Hello everyone ... I was visiting this forum for past few days and I really like reading comments of fellow boarders, its great place to be when you are part of a community which is using same service.I got a new airtel connection 2 months back (after being pissed off using a cable led internet from Exatt.... which was down atleast 10 times a month becasue of poor service from local service provider), I am using 128 kbps plus unlimited plan which gives me a unlimited usage for RS 699 plus taxes a month plus any additional calls made are charged seperately.... So far so good .... as far speed goes when i check it with airtel speed meter it always comes and show me a speed of 105 kbps average(after testing 5-10) times but when alternatively I check it from speakeasy or dsl speed it never exceed 95 kbps, yes it doubles after 11 pm at night till 7 am in the morning.... My questions are1. Is this speed I am getting fine and are other senior members using similar type of connection get same speed on average???2. My modem is 220 BX ADSL2 + MODEM is this best ? As I learnt from internet that good modem helps enhancing speed and performance???3. MOST IMPORTANT QUERY.... I have a notebook which has a average backup battery time of 4 hours during power outage, so I do not require a UPS but with poor power conditions in Delhi where almost power goes out for 2-3 hours atleast everyday everytime power goes off my modem stops working and I am disconnected to internet as modem needs a seperate power connection from power socket.... now my work is such where I cant expect internet to disconnect abruptly just becasue of power faliure .... can adept memebers please advice a solution... does airtel has other modems which can use notebooks battery when power goes off and I learned from here that eathernet modem is best one so when this guy was giving me 220BX while installing I was ok to it as people say USB linked modem really slows the speed(or is it just incorrect) can some one suggest me a modem which keeps working without power on battery life ..... does airtel has such eathernet modems or I need to go buy a UPS.Thanks and regards

@brady welcome to this forum and here are ur answers1. The speeds ur getting are absolutely fine. On an average the speeds which the users are getting on airtel are 12-14 KBps for 128k package and 22-26 KBps for 256k package.2. 220 BX is good enough as it has all the required functions like port forwarding etc.3. There is no such modem which works with notebook backup! If ur work is critical then i suggest u go for a inverter+ups combination. If u don't want to spend to much u can go for single battery inverter instead of 2 battery one.

My modem does not need any external power backup . it works with notebook power only.
