hi people,i have a BEETEL 220BX ADSL2+ MODEM of Airtel Home 999 connectioni have this peculiar problem when ever i connect my utorrent for download ...my internet gets disconnected after 2 -3 hours and sometimes even in 5 - 10 min. for which i have to switch off and then switch on the modem and then the net connection is back. I checked up with the airtel guy and he says this is because of the loss of WAN IP. for which he changed the modem with the new software for it.but this problem persists...i even tried the port forwarding thing but it dosent seem to help..please let me know some solution for it!!!!

if the problem is of WAN IP....U can check the modem settings by simply logging at http://192.168.1.1 --->>default ip of modem!!

or try changing ur torrent client!

@thePester utorrent is not the cause of ur modem dropping the WAN link. Most likely either it is a problem with modem itself or with ur line.Just post ur line stats(SNR,Attuenuation and output power). You can find these stats at 192.168.1.1 --> DSL status

Try lowering the max no. of connections made by µtorrent by going to Options>>Preferences>>Torrents and lower the gobal max conn to somethin like 100 and max connections per torrent to 30. Cap ur uploads at 7-8KBps. Also go to Advanced settings and lower the bt.connect_speed to 10. If ur using winxp w/ sp2 patch ur tcpip.sys with a tool u can get from here http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=downloads

If the problem still persists, am afraid u'll have to downgrade to v 1.4.2. This will eliminate the prob for sure coz this is a known issue with 1.5.

I completly disagree with you @waterloo_sunset there is absolutely no such issue with utorrent 1.5!! I have been using it since the day it came out and i am facing no such problems. My settings are global max connections->128 max connections per torrent->40global max upload rate->18 KBpsalternate upload rate when not downloading->30 KBpsMosy likely its a problem of faulty modem or a line problem.

Even i have not faced any problems with 1.5 myself......there are many others who are though. It's got somethin to do with the new round-robin method of connecting to peers in 1.5.
