Tata Indicom Photon Plus is crap - Kolkata City Review

Hi,I have purchased a new photon+. at initial stage, the speed was superb. But now the speed I am getting less than 200 kbps during day time and In night Its approx. 1 MBPS. They sent their engineer 3 times. They have done their best. for a certain period it works fine, and then again it comes at the same stage. What Should I Do??

Hi, i have been using Tata Photon In kolkata since they launched there services, but i have never faced any speed related problem. Speed is just superb and it is best in comparision to any other wireless broadband solution. its talk of the town and must have gadget if you are mobile. thanks tata indicom :thumb::thumb::clap::clap:

Yes, even i have been using Tata Photon since last month but i have also never faced any issue related to speed or network. I am most of the time connected and never faced frequent and major speed drop! i suggest you should get your laptop checked. the best part is i get more speed than wireline in my office @ Chandni chowk.

hello guys, I have faced similar problem, i got in touch with there customer service desk, they sent engg to my place along with a computer whiz also. my problem got resolved in three hours and since then its working fine. They asked to clean cookies and temp internet files regularly to get good speed. u may try this! Tata Indicom customer service rocks!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::dance::dance::dance:

Hi dude, am from Hyd but some of my friends in Kolkata use Tata Indicom Photon and they say the speed is superb and never face any call drops.I too urge you to get your laptop checked.If still u r not happy with the speed ,you can mail to customer.care@tatatel.co.in for speedy resolution.

Hi Guys, Do anybody has checked actual speed of Photon+? I have checked on DU meter, Working in Ballygunge Phari area and i was surfing at speed of 800 kbps. good speed indeed

I have checked in Mcafee Speedometer speed was not less than 830 KBPs, my bro uses a smilar product of a diffrent service provider when checked simultaneously he was getting speed of around 500 KBPS that too at same place, same time and same sites visited.

800kbps is nowhere near to what they claim in advertisements :notallowed:

i agree to other users, even i get speed of approx 828kbps! i believe it all depends on time of surfing and place of surfing. And its again average speed we all are talking about! i m sure if Admin will check speed again some time later he will get a diff speed.

I do agree with the fact that TATA Indicom customer care lacks in their technical knowledge. I am using Photon for the past 2 months, last month the speed was superb. But from July 22nd onwards, there has been a decrease in the speed far too much. I did not use the print screen feature or else I could have showed you guys what the speed was. It was on an average 15.08Kbps. I lodged a complaint with the authorities. Even after changing the Port Settings and the Bits per second to 115200 didn't help too much. Finally 3, yes I do mean it 3 guys came with laptops to my shop where they huddled in a corner and took a lot of tests of my laptop and of my pc. Their final verdict was, "There is nothing wrong with your computer or laptop, it is the network which is fluctuating here in your place."Later they checked and found out that I am the only person surfing the internet from my entire place. I was speechless. Nothing seemed to work. Finally I called up the Nodal Officer, gave him a long speech about going to court and suing the TATA Indicom company. I guess it worked fine. In 3 hours I was called up from Mumbai atleast 20 times. And all is working fine. I guess the other wireless Broadband providers are better than TATA at this time.

yeap its hard to find technically smart people here in india especially in customer support. and that means... once the things go bad. there is little hope for correction.

In reference to your topic regarding slow speed of Internet, Kindly check your anti-virus. There are so many anti-virus which reduces the speed when you surf. I was also getting slow speed at a time. I was using Kaspersky anti-virus. This caused me lots of problems. 3 or 4 Engineers have visited also. Problems were unsolve. I then, formatted my laptop, installed Avast anti-virus. Now the speed I am enjoying is superb since last 25 days

😕 i think the firewall element of an internet security suite can hinder internet speeds. antivirus should not hurt downloading speeds.

Hi,I am a new user of Tata Indicom Photon Plus.Would like to know if anyone has any idea about the network coverage at Rishra, it is 17 Kms from Howrah and near to Srirampur. 😛I have taken a 10 GB plan, and will be travelling most of the time. Also, is Network available in Jamshedpur??Thanks,v2cool
