Hey allDoes anyone know of good DNS servers which have low ping times and resolve addresses quicklyThe MTNL Servers i think resolve the addresses slowly or have high ping timeThe IE browser says Finding site for a long time

Hmm... I Hate Changin DNS Servers...

Why Don't U PPL Use TreeWalk Instead...?
TreeWalk DNS is a Domain Name Server program which fetches and converts Web Site human-readable names into the numbered addresses your computer needs so that your browser, email, instant messenger, and FTP programs can surf the Web.
TreeWalk DNS requires virtually no support as it is generally an \"install it and forget it\" application. It really is that easy! However, we recognize that occasional configuration problems do occur so if you need help, please review our FAQ page to see if your problem is listed there. If that doesn't provide an answer for you, use the Forums page for information about our Forums and Newsgroups to look for the solution to your problem. Due to the simplicity of installing and running TreeWalk DNS, your query has probably been \"asked and answered\" already but feel free to join in anyway!

Thats' DNS RU Or DNS Research Utility
DNSRU (Domain Name System Research Utility) is freely distributed by Steve Gibson, and can be used to test your provider's DNS servers' speeds for comparison to localhost. Be sure to read the info within and visit the links to his site for more on DNSRU. Awesome! However, you'll need to select the program icon then press and hold the \"Shift\" key before double-clicking every time you want to run it, to by-pass the pre-configured expiration. Initially, you may need to double-click the selected icon a second time while depressing the Shift key if you do it this way. Another method is to hold down the Shift key, right-click the icon and select \"Open\". You'll be most interested in the Benchmark tab, and the Server selection capability which is available through clicking the DNSRU icon at the top left of the opened program. Remember, this is still an unfinished Research and Development tool, so some functions are not enabled.[/b]

Tried It Myself... Here Are The Benchmarks...

Internally, all timing measurements are taken with sub-microsecond (839 nanosecond) resolution and maintained to six significant decimal places. They are rounded to three decimal places for presentation.

Download This... http://ntcanuck.com/download/051111twdns.zip
And Install It... Restart Your Computer (Coz It'll Ask U To Do So)...
Change Your Primary DNS Server To...
Code:
127.0.0.1
Set The Alternate DNS Server To Any One...
Code:
192.168.1.1202.138.96.2 [Reliance - Suggested By baudhayan]202.138.103.100 [Reliance - Suggested By baudhayan]202.54.1.18 [VSNL - Suggested By doniv]4.2.2.1 [Suggested by cyberwiz]
Thats It... You're Done...

take those reliance servers out of the list coz they wont resolve the names unless u are on reliance networkAnd BSNL and VSNL are as good as MTNL no point in keeping htem as alternates..THis treewalk local dns server would speed up things for cached IP address's but wat abt those that are fresh and not cached...it would still have to lookup some DNS server on the web..so essentially if u browse a lot of new sites everyday its not goin to offer a lot of improvement though it may still be more reliable than MTNL dns

Freinds,I have installed the software and it automtically wrote the dns settings. Thanks for your kind help.I am feling easy I am feelisng better after this. Thanks once again

Techno after intsalling the treewalk from the link you gave things have improved a lot.I cant even believ that my same internet connection is running such nicely.

I dont have any firewall in my PC.Treewalk control panel says that service is running.I checked this while my net was ON.

I am having single pc and the connection is used by single pc.The router is configured on pppoe. When I installed the treewalk and rebooted my pc the DNS was 127.0.0.1 and the alternate dns was 192.168.1.1

But now the DNS is 127.0.0.1 but the alternate dns has automtacially changed to 4.2.2.1

i did not changed it,automatically happened.

Can i now rechange the alternate dns to 192.168.1.1

Try Doin That... But I Don't Think That Would Help... There Might Be Some Problem At Your Place... Or You Can Get Support From The PPL Who Made This TreeWalk... http://forums.treewalkdns.com/ ... 🙂

PS: Don't Quote Messages That Are Right Above Your Post... Makes Some PPL Mad... 😛

Techno you mean after installing treewalk I should not face the problem at all?or facing this problem one or two times is OK?BTW what are the possible problems that can be at my end.BTW in windows explorer help and support they have said something abt winsocks I dont know whats that.BTW,alternate dns if its 192.168.1.1 in case of 4.2.2.1 any differnce or alternate dns may be any it is one and the same(result) and doesnt makes any differnce what matters is the primary(127.0.0.1)anyways,I once again thank you from the day I have installed treewalk i have forgotten the 1504 number🙂sorry for quoteing messages

hmmmmmmmyou seem to have all kinds of problems. 🙁 i suggest you to try changing your router.

viralbug, yes sorr to post problems and problems. But then no one is here to help me.I cant understand that you ppl must be getting irritated but sorry for that.mtnl says no problem with router coz ,u are able to surf the net....

no problem yaar, no one is getting irritated.we like to help those who have a problem. this is what this forum is for. 🙂whatever your problems are, they are surely because of one particular thing which i unfortunately dont know. 🙁try connecting your triband on another computer if possible.
