I am Sify broadband customer for the last 13 months. I am in Chembur, Mumbai and the last mile connectivity is provided by the local distributor. For the last 13 months, I have been renewing my connection every month through Internet and paying by Credit Card. (Rs. 595/- month)For the current month, I have renewed 3-4 days back and is valid till 24th April' 06.Suddenly, two days back, at 10.30 in the night, a collection thug comes from the local operator and hands out a receipt for Rs. 695/-and intimidates us to pay. The next day we got a call from the Sify engineer, saying the if we do not pay the fee the wires will be cut. And the same day the wires were actually cut. Now I don't have a connection while I have paid for the connection till 25th April. For the last 13 months or so, there was no service from the local operator. We were never told that we need to pay separately to the local operator. We were given the option to renew through internet, which is very convenient for us and we we followed the same.We had problems with Sify from day one and once we had to write to the CEO directly to get the problem sorted out.Can someone tell me whether there is an government body (like TRAI) where I can take this complaint to? How do I get Sify to respond to this and take appropriate action? Please help. Thanks

heard of Consumer Court???

the topic is discussed there b4 also. there is no point to argue with cto. just think that the pack costs a bit extra.I pay 550 for 64kbps(Rs. 400+150 cto charges, 1 month)I bamboo them if i m not connected for a single minute!! 😛

Same here.....My mom told me that Cable guy came today and asked for Rs 1000 for past 6-7 months of service charges that I didnt pay as I was renewing Online. If he comes again.....i will ask him to lick my ass and AND I 'll pull the wire from hub and damage his hub and ask him to go as I will switch to triband. I will not give any Service charges.....they already make about 25 % profit from the package charges itself.U also should not do so as Sify does not provide in written anywhere as to how much should we pay them in name of service charges if at all whatsoever and these service charges come under Service Tax which these cable guys never pay. I think everybody should stop paying any service charge if he is paying at all.

 Damn first der was sify now cable operator too.If he comes @ my place then good bye to sify 🙂 MTNL Triband zindabad 😛

Hi, I've just joined this forum.....Well, I'm a Sify Broadband user too, from Vashi, Navi MumbaiI pay by cheque every month, which is collected by the Sify guy coming from Vile Parle. The Sify ppl have been telling us regularly that under no circumstances should we pay any cash to the local cable operator. Either pay online or pay it to the Sify guy coming from the Vile Parle office.I guess Sify collects the fees themselves now, and has restricted the local operator's work only to cabling/account updates (at least in Navi Mumbai).

What do you mean by they cut your wire? Did they take it out of their hub or did they actually cut it? I hope you know that you own that first piece of wiring from your house to the hub. So thats damaging your property... goto to the police and complain of harassment... and damage to your property... make up something else if that helps... screw those buggers.

Yep, I second that.
Even if you hadn't actually paid, they could've at the most temporarily disabled your account (this is done from the Sify Vile Parle office).
If the cable was cut, I guess your local operator was upto some mischief.

You need to make a complaint, in any case.

If your local operator does not apologise, you can arrange to bar them from entering your locality (by talking it out with the secretary of your society)

Hi Prithvi,

I am their customer in Koparkhairane. The guy from Vile Parle comes here too. This month I had a BB 101 error for a day, and so I refused to pay that guy until it was resolved. A couple of days later I made the payment at their Vashi Sec 14 SSV Cable office. They didnt demand any extra charges. So I guess SSV is honest or something.

take the network cable put it in the electricity switch. and turn it on.

Thats a tempting thought.
Would it damage just the switch or other users who might be connected too? I don't want to cause hardships to other fellow Sify sufferers.

If only the switch gets roasted , I might do it 🙂

Only the switch bro... its gonna burst... so stand outside and ask some1 from your house to switch the power on and enjoy the fireworks. O please please do it and take some pics as well... and post it back here.

I suggest u make a video of "How to Fry a Sify Hub/Switch". I think Sushubh will be more than happy to upload it here

well i will definitely get sued for giving this suggestion to a sify user. video can be hosted on youtube...
