This has been discussed earlier on this forum. The speed is set on the particular telephone line.Even if u use the username of 1Mbps account u would still be locked to 256kbps speed if ur line is set for that speed...I have tried my friends username/pass (512kbps line) on my comp and I still got 256 Kbps speed, then I tried my username/pass (256 kbps) on friends line he still got 512 Kbps speed.I have tried it, so no point in arguing....

hmm not telephone line but telephone no. , also u gotta hv a router which supports the speed u're trying to access. I.e if ur cousin bro has a 512 kbps wala acc then u can access it using ur telephone line but u gotta have a router which is meant to handle this speed.

i dont think the routers have anything like a 256k limit. all routers are able to handle much more speeds than that.

oye chill ppl i got the msg, what u want my life for that ???Saale sab ke sab itni jaldi senti ho jate ho na kya batau .

Router has nothing to do with the speed limit we are talking about. Same Router D-Link 502T is used by MTNL...

imranais bhai theek hai, about 10 ppl hv already mentioned this, read my previous post, its for u too 🙂 🙂

ok bot the speed limit

502t can handle upto 24mbps cause it is ADSL2+ router

but currently MTNL gives ADSL ie it can handle upto 8mbps

ADSL : 8mbps
ADSL2 : 12mbps
ADSL2+ : 24mbps

take a look at this graph for more info

i think you have to upgrade the firmware for the router to handle adsl2+ .. i think the current firmware is only for adsl.. 🙂we should have VDSL2.. 100mbps speeds on telephone line!lol

Let me confirm this ...

The 502T router given by MTNL is ADSL2+ technology

I repeat MTNL uses ADSL2+ technology

It was also written their pamphlet or whatever that was.
