SuperSify: Alternative Sify Broadband Client

Well I have disabled heartbeating, I suggest you do the same. You can do that either by calling them or the Chat page on customer service.

thanks man. B) 🙂 i want the source code. so that i can modify it for my need. please upload the source code 🙂 .

I've disabled the heartbeat, now I want the client to close itself without waiting for me to press a key.

Fred,I get "Error receiving beat response" too - but connection stays alive. There is no valuable information in the response, and only sending the beat really matters.fullyaddicted, have some patience - the source will be released in due course. Good things take time 😉In the meanwhile - I have only one feature requested for the next version -Remove the keypress. I'll make this a switch, will take me 5.BUT, I don't want to release in a hurry, so I'll wait for a day or two for a few more requests to gather... come on, is this all you want? - all you people happy? (not that I'm complaining). No further requests?Make sure you participate in the poll. Before I take my own decision regarding a GUI - I need to know what you guys really want and how to prioritize the work.IP

Make the gui only if we can still use console with same memory usage as right now. Other than the switch to remove keypress I don't think there are any more requirements.

If it included a scheduler it would only take up space or show up in the task list unncessarily. Windows scheduler can do that anyway. It logs in and logs out, with a switch to eliminate keypress it would do so faster. What else could you ask for from this?I would like to know when my account was last accessed from the command prompt also.It should be able to start in either console or GUI mode. Or maybe you can make separate applications...Well for the people who really like GUI's I guess it should be able to do everything the normal client can do and look better while doing it. The following are additions over the Sifly client that would be cool.1. A graph showing current and past, upload and download speed would also be nice with numbers at the bottom also showing the speed.2. Instead of hanging around looking like a useless getright drop target it should only have two modes, in the taskbar and windowed.3. We should be able to move the window around (stupid sify client sitting in the middle of the screen). Also please release the version with the switch to remove keypress soon, preferably before you spend a couple of days making the rest of the improvements 🙂

Excuse my ignorance...

None oftheir official clients seem to have options to disable heartbeat...otherwise our connectionms will get broken inbetween right?

Do they have options for us not to have this hearbeat turned on??

They do not have an option to turn heartbeat off in the client itself. Sorry about this useless post, just testing my new Firefox RSS reader out 🙂EDIT: Just great it's taking forever to show up I have to refresh manually 🙁

kkm,

What ujjwal meant was to get the heartbeat "feature" disabled for your account by Sify. (Just like calling them up and disabling the antivirus)

SuperSify shows you your sify hearbeat setting when logging in... something like
Heartbeat: Enabled by Sify server. Unspecified by user.

If the heartbeat is disabled by Sify - then by default SuperSify will not start the heartbeat. Since it is disabled on the Server side, your connection will not die - even without the heartbeat running.

So, you can call Sify customer service and ask them to disable it - or you can do it via the online chat @$$istace (though I have not tried this ever - didn't know it existed until it was mentioned in this thread)

Otherwise, I apreciate the poll submissions. Don't worry - I'll release the "without a key press" version with a switch before embarking on any serious work. It will be out tomorrow sometime.

Hi IP,Thanks..That makes it clear. I'll call the sify folks to disable the hearbeat...Now just login and forget the client..probably this what i was waiting for .....Good work IP..

Sorry for the delay guys, I have the client compiled with the key switch and some additional code. BUT...My Sify connection has been down for 2 days now. Some f*** from my building cut the power cable to the switch. They are fixing that tomorrow morning (heck, it took them 1 day to come and look at the thing) and they will be sourcing power from my house. Since I have an inverter, the good thing is, I (and everyone else on the same switch) would be able to use Sify when the power goes down - and it goes down 3 hours a day, 5 days a week.Needless to say, I haven't been able to test the client.I'll try to get the client remotely tested tonight - else I'll release the next version by this time tomorrow. Promise. Thanks for your support,IP.

Great work IP, btw, I voted for console only, as with a little help from windows shortcuts, it is probably the quickest way to login in windows.
