ntfs-3g works great . i am running it with kubuntu . kubuntu is great even though it comes with less progs and most stuff has to be apt-getted .

Follw these steps after you get linuxuser account.1]at terminal type "system-config-network" and enter root passwd2] In devices tab, click on "new "3] select "Xdsl" from type4]At terminal become root by typing "su" and then root passwd5] Now type "/sbib/pppoe -A" (capital A essential)6]Note down the service and access concentrator names as applicabel to you.7] In the new connection you are creating , enter your linuxuser username and password , and in advanced tab enter service and access concentrator name u just noted down. Also remember to check "allow users to activate this device"8] Then click on "ok" and save it.9] Your newly created connection will now appear there. Just select it and click on activate.10]Now when you want to actiave your connection, just use "/sbin/ifup ..or if you want GUI , use network device control from Knenu->system.
