Guys help me!I happened to be a unfortunate triband user of MTNL!One connection was on my dad's name whose total bill pending amount is 10k,in month of Feb I booked a new connection on my name inspite knowing i was a defaulter.Then I committed d same mistake of booking triband on this no, now with TriB599 plan;I thought they will forget my old bills but the climax lies here-They neither close my old account bills r still coming nor did they prevented me from getting connection;On a new no I got bill of 2500 for March which is still unpaid.Both lines r disconnected but bill saga continues to go on-Each month I m getting Bill of 999+ taxes on my old no(dad's name)and on new no i m getting bill of 150+ taxes.Now the amount has risen to 10000 for old no and 3000 for old no;Tell me what should I do?Should I pay 3k for new no and continue it with incoming plan(since MTNL ka landline seems to be trustworthy) or doesn't pay anything and should keep quiet.In all cases, tell me how to stop this billing system first.Next year I m flying to US for my post graduate studies, so I dont want MTNL babus to give tension to my family members or file court case against my family.I may end up in getting bills in lakhs when I will b grandfather; now turned 21.Tell me with all possibility what will happen if I dont pay/ pay the bills.I can afford flying to US but cant afford to pay MTNL's bills ANd they are not ready for settlement.Currently both my numbers are in DNP Jumper state(I dunno what is it)I need ur serious help! Man I'm feeling a sense of déjà vu. This happened to my grandfather some 40 years back when he got a telephone bill of Rs.8000 😱 at that time. Even though it took years for my poor grandfather to get the issue settled in the court but finally he got justice albeit he incurred huge expenses for the trial.But I don't think so any of those things will happen to you. And besides nowadays there are consumer courts and if nothing work out then there are these human right activists 😀!Jokes apart, you need to settle this quickly before things go out of hand & before you leave for US. I don't recommend you pay those over dues. Ask your family lawyer if you have one or seek a legal expert on this issue. They will be the best ones to guide you as a big player like MTNL is involved in this case. We all pray that everything of this settles down as quickly as possible.
I may like thank zeo for looking into d matter;but dear friend,I dont have any family lawyer since I belong to a middleclass Goan family; and still middleclass Goans dont need a lawyer because they always pay their bills on time, they tend to live a tension free life by not engaging into unsocial activities, u can say they have a fear in mind for d govt companies, this is what my mom thinks.My parents r ready to pay d bills but still I dont want to pay, since I personally belive d bills r not made in an ethical manner.But can anyone tell me why they still sending me new bills every month when I m not using their service and they r not providing d service!
You are welcome Chinmay 😀. I rhetorically asked whether you have a family lawyer just for the sake of the completeness of my post. Not only middle class Goan people are law abiding people but majority of the middle class people in India are; so keeping a family lawyer is out of question for them.
I don't know whether is correct on MTNL's part to send you bills every month just because you didn't clear a due but one can say that they doing it so because they haven't forgotten your due till now. As long as our sarkari babu's 'under-the-table' activity keeps him busy in his office he won't bother you. But once there is a slump in this business of his, god forbid, he may gently turn up the heat on you to keep his pocket full 😱.

I dont want to encourage Under d table activity, as I firmly believe Corruption is responsible for India's stake stolen by other countries in each and every aspect.Even these guyz r not ready for settlement, I m confused what to do. May there be someone who has faced d same problem? I m in a do or die situation just like jaspal bhatti of flop show who brings a new telephone to his house, ends up in getting 40k bill; eventually takes loan from bank to pay d bills and when his neighbours come to his house he says "KYA AAPKO BILL KI CHINTA NAHI, KYA AAPKA RISHTEDAAR MTNL MEIN HAI??" He replies, "MAINE PHONE HI KATWA DIYA HAI"Waiting 4 some more opinions!!

i had a mtnl 849nu plan from Dec08 to oct08. i had moved house in may 08, and asked to xfer my line. (it took 1.5 months for the voice line), now the adsl line was moved but the xchg h/w switch wasnt changed. TIll tht time i didnt pay the bills, so i showed up as DNP Jumper (DID NOT PAY - JUMPER).
When i got the SDE at the xchg to get the h/w part done in Sept08, i filed a complaint for the 3.5 months of no svc.
In october 08, i got my line canceled, but my complaint wasnt redressed.
Now in April09, when i came from onsite, i filed a new app for Mtnl trib, and the linesman & SDE refused to install saying that arrears were pending. Since the nw at xchg was down, i went the next day, and found that Mtnl had to pay me 4k, not the other way arnd. I confronted the SDE, and he got my line installed the same day.
Now instead of getting 256kbps trib unltd, I get well over 1MBytePS (8 MbitPS) from pvt trackers for whole of last month and continuing. :cool2:
Although ur case mite be true, its still an exception. I'd advise to clear the matter with accts dept, and pay up. Even if u do not pay, MTNL doesn't take u to court. :thumb:
But since u have Pride in ur ethix and morals, its ethical to pay the 10k, that u knew ur dad had to pay.
