Hi, thanks for ur advice. i think i should stop using bit torrents then. i will go back to my old kazaa or other p2p softwares. but really sify is a real crap. i didn't have any pblm earlier i've been using sify fot the last 2 years now. it was ok. but now.. i think they'll soon start losing their business. and it will take a long time to get the reputation back. i've heard realince is also coming in the same field. i mean cable net.

Hey I hate sify with all my heart and soul, but, on their webpage they clearly mention that in the 1100 pack ull get 64 kbps upload speed. So you can't blame them for your crappy upload speed. You should however still get ur 32 kbps on http etc. Now since this is true unlimited, you shouldn't have the problem of the download limit, so it really dosent matter if it takes a couple of hours more to download a torrent since u don't have to fit your downloads into the 10-8 bracket. And have you checked out the airtel packages? 999+tax. true unlimited 256 kbps. Ppl have reported getting 28-30 kbps on torrents on that connection and almost 32 on http.

hi, thanks yar. could you post the link here where did u see that information. that we will have 64kbps upload . if it is there then i need to call my uncle who is in consumer court. and get sify's a** on fire. 😛

There you go dude... look at the box just below anytime internet range

UNLIMITED PLANS (Upload Speed:64 kbps Download Speed:256 kbps)
256 kbps New! Unlimited 1 1100

It looks just like this.
And may the force be with u... go screw those sobs.
Though I was wondering on what grounds are u going to sue them?

thanks dude, i'll talk to them once if they do something in this then well and good. otherwise i know what i need to do. it could be something to do with cable connectivity also yar. because i tried to ping default gateway with 1024kb and sometime after 6-7 ping replies it times out. so i'll get that checked once and then see what happens.

As in does it timeout for a while or completely?

thats for 1 or maximum 2 timeouts. but that should not make any difference yar because i m pinging with 1mb data. and downloads run at 30-35 kbps. it should not make any difference. but still i'll talk to my cable operator. lets see what happens. i m looking for airtel to come in my locality. these ppl in india are very lazy yar.

I've got de same prob wit the connection .. i understand the 256 / 64 shit . but ultra vires u send u can still get 30 k download even wit 8 k upload ? u sure its possible ... its not workin for me . i use bit comet could u tell me how exactly do u " cap the torrent badnwidth to 4kBps upload and dont disturb the global upload speed " it's be a big help if u could temme how to do tat .

Hey that totally works, if you just cap the individual torrent upload bandwith without disturbing the actual global upload speed ull still get your 28 to 30 k download speed. This is an extremely easy process in azureus. But the thing is then ur gonna slowly become a leecher, and will eventually get banned.

🙂 hi yar i think my download speed is Ok because if i try to download any file say from website, that gives me a speed of starting with 60-70 and stays at 28-30 kbps. now the thing is that i havn't used this method of global upload and individual uploads. but really yar sometimes i get proper speed with torrents as well. and most of the times not more than 4-5 kbps. so what i've done i m downloading 10 torrents at the same time. but really i m looking to switch to emule or dc++ .. can anyone suggest me a good p2p software or what to do in this situation.

Thats the thing man, your download speed is ok, but since torrents act on the upload download speed ratio factor, so you need to upload at something like 25 k constantly for you to get 30 k download constantly. So the only option left for you is to cheat the torrent manager, this way. As for p2p other than limewire, stuff like dc++ and emule contain a lot of spywares. So u're better off with torrents. I'm telling you just get azureus now for the time being, and check it out.

yes i think u guyz are right. i'll use azureus as of now. and then as soon as airtel comes into my locality. i'll switch to them. these sify ppl they can't do that. but u know i like sify just because of LAN. and i share alot of data through LAN which i'll not be able to do. i also run a file sharing server from home. and people really enjoyed that. i used to share all my drives and also used to upload abt 30GB data everyday. but those are gone days. but i like to be on LAN. anyways i'll try azureus. and then see what happens.

dude i downloaded azerus now how do i exactly cap individual torrent upload band width ? n to how much should i k cap it too ? n how long before they ban me ? =D
