Just today I received SMS from Vodafone saying that I need to submit my Photo, ID proof and address proof.

Now I am their customer from almost 6years now. And I have already submitted these 3 things 3 times to them.

First time I submitted all documents was when I bought new (orange) SIM card. I purchased SIM from very reputed shop here so mistake is unlikely but lets say they forgot to submit some documents.

After abt 6-12 months, orange/hutch sent me SMS saying documents are incomplete and TRAI requirement. Now this time I went to official Orange/Hutch shop and submitted all 3 again.

But even after that after 6 more months they again sent me SMS saying documents are incomplete and I have to file them in ONE DAY (one day?! what nonsense). This time I was furious, I went to same official Orange/Hutch argued with them but then they said this is last time. I also made sure that this time I xerox the form and make them stamp it as an acknowledgement. (this was in Dec 2006)

But now today again Vodafone sent me SMS saying documents are incomplete and this time they gave me 7 days warning (duh great)
Here is text: Its in Hindi but English and what a polite way, duh again:

Aapke Vodafone prepaid number ki seva jaari rakhne keliye agle 7 dino mein photo, address aur ID proof nazdiki Vodafone Store/Mini Store mein turant jama kare.

Contacting and arguing CC didnt help, all they say is, its TRAI requirement and ask me to go to Vodafone shop and usual stuff. I said this is harassment but nothing is said except sorry for inconvenience.

I asked them what is missing, they had no answer to that.

I am sure eventually I will have to submit the documents again as I have no option. So I am just interested in knowing anybody has faced such problem.

My count: This will be 4th time.

I have submitted two times

Only once, that too after 5 years using the card.I suggest you write a mail to them. I recently got Rs 25 credit from vodafone after they had goofed up providing me some wrong sms scheme. This was done after i harassed them on mail.

Well VF is known for being the most "customer-unfriendly" brand. Infact, ever since Hutch/Orange rebranded itself as Vodafone, things have changed for the worse each day. No doubt, Mr.amish is being harassed unnecessarily. The best deal for you would be to surrender your connection. May be that would stir the stupid VF guys and then they might stop bothering you repeatedly for the same issue.

i submitted the docs twice.once when i bought my sim card as orange, then once again a couple of years ago under hutch. so far never under VF.in both the cases i submitted the docs at the same orange/hutch/VF shopmy count: twice

I submitted the docs. No option was left. Contacted CC by Email too. Went to Vodafone shop and argued too. But they said TRAI asked them to recollect all documents. So now waiting for number portability.

i thought trai made it mandatory for operators to verify the ownership of their mobile customers after a particular time period has passed?

Yes but noone here has been asked for more than twice. My friends didnt get any such SMS either.Other operators havent asked for more than once.So why me?

😀i have been a tata indicom postpaid customer for 2 years now i think. i have never been required to resubmit the documents. if they ask me, i would be in trouble as the connection is in my friend's name. and that friend is essentially no longer a friend. 😕

May be u can apply for name transfer if they ask u to resubmit docs.

ya thats what most of the people do. when re-submitting docs, they even get it transferred by filling an additional form which would require your friend's signature which can be done by anyone 😛

i have submitted only once. but i know a few who had to submit atleast 2 times.

I took one vodafone connection last saturday from vodaphone store in my town.just submitted a photo and that's it. 🙂 PS: I have idea connection too.but feels vodaphone is atleast having more coverage inside my house as well as less no. of nagging spammer calls.I deactivated adverts and messages send to my idea cell no. and still gets calls from somewhere . 😡 .
