How many times did Vodafone (Orange/Hutch) ask you to submit documents?

The same thing is happening repeatedly STILL as september 2010.
Vodafone support personnel keep on harping the same TRAI/DoT requirements.

I have been a long time customer more than 6 to 7 years. We gave whatever documents were needed at the time of getting new connection and THAT IS HOW we got connection. A few years ago services were witheld/disconnected saying that docs are not sufficient according to Trai/DoT - we resubmitted whatever was asked and this time we were told that things are okay and no such requirement will be asked ever in future. They did not gave any return documents or receipt confirmation, saying that nothing further is needed and connection was restored.

Now again on Sept 13 2010 there are SMSes asking to furnish documents within 3 days.
- What if someone is abroad and is not returning this month?
- What happened to the Docs we already gave? Vodafone cannot show copies of what we already gave. Where are those?
- Where is the notification on Vodafone website and Trai/DoT website that docs are to be given repeatedly?
- Vodafone stores apparently have no Form made for this purpose but gives a "new connection" sort of form. This is ridiculous.

Vodafone, have an appropriate form at least. Do you have it ? Show it on your website please.
Please make the thing online so that we can use our own convenient time to upload form with scanned copies of necessary docs if you have to force this harassment repeatedly in the name of Tari/DoT. If Trai/DoT asks you docs you please say them you already have those - that is how you should give "customer service" but in any case you do not choose that path
PLEASE NOTE :

1. You already have addresses of those who got connection.
Send a PROPER LETTER AT those addresses,
We do not see all SMSes - we may not see any SMS at all - Trai/Dot has not made it compulsory that we should see any or all SMSes. Neither do we receive all calls from unknown numbers.
Senior members of family like aged mother /father living at a distance cannot read sms and will only respond to familiar ringtone/ some fixed known numbers.
IF YOU NEED TO INFORM ANYTHING PLEASE USE THE SNAIL MAIL ADDRESS YOU HAVE.

2.And then put up the forms at your website so that they can be filled according to everyone's convenience.

3.PLEASE SAY HOW MANY TIMES DOCUMENTS ARE TO GIVEN.(Do not blame or point fingers to Trai/DoT and if you do that please ask the same to Trai/Dot and put a copy of that commincation on your website). IF THE NUMBER GIVEN BY YOU DOES NOT SUIT US WE ALL UNHAPPY AND HARASSED CUSTOMERS WILL BE HAPPY TO LEAVE YOUR SERVICE.

4. Devise a harassment-free method immediately if you or Trai/DoT must continue with this :
- This time when you receive and verify documents issue a PIN - a number in paper like Bank PIN that will be known only to an individual, and not to any terrorist in case he gets the phone
- Make a system and make compulsory for all users to submit phone-number-PIN combination either from phone or via website once a year
- If this is entered correctly the documents already given stands verified for that year
- If you need to do this yearly / at any specific time of the year send a postcard to the address you got at the time of the giving connection.

Vodafone is costlier than several other network services - so we hope you will spend a small part of that consumer money, without any flimsy excuses, to implement the above IMMEDIATELY AND NOW!

I have been getting these reminder SMS's from vodafone for the last few months. Never found the time. About 2 weeks ago, they deactivated the CLIP facility from my sim card. About a week ago, i was on my way to masjid station to meet a client and boom, i get an sms telling me that they have deactivated my outgoing facility. How the hell am i supposed to tell my client where im at now? Had to go searching for that red coloured pay phone.I had an airtel card laying around useless for a year. And this was taken/registered more than 3 years ago, way before my new vodafone cad. I turned it on and it was still working. I made the switch and after the situation i got in, im not using vodafone again.

Yep its very annoying and harassment.. i have gone thru this 4-5 or more times already.

It seems the service providers are again going to ask us to submit the documents for verification purpose as per the COAI ad in TOI....:frown:

Dont worry Airtel has also asked a number of it's subscribers via SMS to re submit their documents recently ,I being one of them.Although I have been Airtel Prepaid customer for many years now. When I went to re submit the documents there were already many people already doing the same.Interesting thing is there are atleast 2 more Airtel numbers in our family but they weren't asked to submit documents again.I did ask the customer care as to why they are asking for documents again after so many years of my being their customer for which they had no answer.

i had to submit it 6-7 times when i applied for one.. They asked the same thing again and again... as i applied for it in Mumbai and i was not from Mumbai.. they kept on telling that it was because the rules had become strict after the blasts.. The last time they asked for it , i told them to cancel it(i didn't in the beginning as i was new here and wanted a sim badly, as they used to activate it wen i give the documents but then deactivate a day after then ask for documents again)..and then they activated it again which was not deactivated later on... it was BS to get ma sim activated...

they sent me a message a month bak telling to submit the documents again.. i thot of slapping the crap outta them.. then they deactivated my CLI and then they said they activated it :O.. then they deactivated it... I am sick of this and am going to feed the sim to the dogs...

I submitted once, then i was notified once again and a pre recorded mesg played when i called 121 but when i dint submit them again it all just stopped.

MNP is total Crap in India the way it is done...plus why to resubmit the documents...is this for recent connection or old ones....

^ Documents need to be submitted even if you are porting within the US. OK, not documents, but they need your SSN.
