broadband setup on Fedora/Redhat linux

Hello,

I have written a tutorial that will help you configure a PPPOE connection (broadband) connection on RedHat Linux 9 or any of the Fedora Core flavours.

I am using Tata indicom so screenshots will discuss configuring Tata Indicom connection on Linux but if you know the AC name for your connection (i.e. VSNL_BRAS_1 in case of Tata Indicom) you can easily replace VSNL_BRAS_1 with the name of your access concentrator (service) and can configure any PPPOE (i.e. internet via LAN) on Linux.

sounds great. Have you heard about the DC++ protocol. Well using it we can set up a HUB on our local intranet. Simply put it is like Kazaa but at the intranet level.

Using it we can start creating a pool of shared data which can be searched and downloaded if required. The best part is this download will happen at 10Mbps.

Here by we are making the use of the LAN connectivity when we are not logged to the internet.

Well i am in office in the evenings....I doubt we are on the same lan but will just try using ip messenger....

I have already setup my DC++ hub .Come in IP messenger, I will give u the address..

I tried logging on to IP messenger. No luck. Well i believe we need to be on the same ISP and the same LAN to talk to each other (and also to use the facilities of the hub).Since local subnets all have a Class C IP address you think we are on the same LAN wich is actually not true.Neway I am moving from Tata Indicom to Powernet connection provided by our local cabelwalla.Reason : There exists a hub with a strong base on about 50 ppl sharing excellent stuff.Such thing does not exist on the Indicom network.However I am very much pleased with the Indicom service. I get the speeds i pay for and the connection seldomly drops down. ......
