Theoretically one can download something like 30 GB per month.. Not enough ? 😉

Yes "Theoretically" it might be possible, but if you take into account that on a 256 k connection they guarantee 128k and above therefore you never get your promised speeds, just imagine the promised speed on 64 k connection! and if you download stuff on a below 64k connection, your browsing would become painfully slow.

Anyways this isn't happening so end of the matter.

Still waiting for my night upgrade here in b'lore.

Well, I live in GWALIOR (MP).Just confirmed about this plan. What they have done is simply reduced their 64kbps unlimited plan charges from Rs. 500 and since Airtel these days provides double bandwiths in night hours the speed is said to be 128kbps at night.Anyway hopefuly 2 days for the connection to go and then I can find out the performace levels of this plan. 😀

yes they had it has home64 ( it was 64 unlimited) only and at rs 600 + 99 for modem , which they later converted to home 699 🙂

TRAI defines broadband as 256k and above....airtel therefore should not publicize anything less than 256k as broadband. I can't believe we are back to 64k...if this is believed to be true! we are in 2006.I guess things here in our country work differently!Unless bsnl comes out with better packages we will not see the next leap in broadband.

i meant they never had "this" 64kbps plan(for 500) ...... isnt it

Airtel told me that they had this plan in chd sometime ago but now not available anywhere.

I am beginning to like this connection. Separate wiring took slightly longer than usual but anyways finally it started working. 😀 Day speed tests show 70K and night one varies between 125-140 K . I was surprise with upload tests coz I thought it would have been capped at 64K but surprisingly its 128K (day and night same) . Best part is port forwarding works automatically on this beetel 220 bx so I almost max out at 8k day and 16k night speeds. Overall really good work and I am more than satisfied. Though I hope they double the speeds soon. 😛

They are going at the lower end of the market, that's how you build your customer base. Not everyone is going to want 256k, but throw them something affordable and it gets the buzz going.Ppl still have this mentality that internet is billed by the pulse ie over the phone, expeeensssive...Now that you can get the same as dialup and have unlimited, you get a better taste of what the net could be like.btw, if all you do is web & email, providing you have a good hosts list, an ad blocking browser that allows browsing with images oFF, you will be amazed with what you can do with 30kbs..let alone 64kbs.
