MUZAFFARPUR: A criminal case was filed in a [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]court[/COLOR][/COLOR] on Thursday accusing Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh with 'hurting' fans by staying away from the Padma awards function.

Dhoni and Bhajji were to be honoured with the Padma Shree by President Pratibha Patil in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Senior advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha filed the case in the court of the CJM Ramdarash seeking to book the [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]cricketers[/COLOR][/COLOR] under sections 499 (defamation), 500 (punishment for defamation), 503 (criminal intimidation) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).

Ojha alleged that the two cricketers insulted fans and dishonoured the prestigious award by staying away from the function.

The petition is likely to come up for hearing on Friday, he said.

heh yeah. i read that reports say they were filming an advertisement with little time remaining for the start of the indian premier league... harbhajan went on to say that he would leave the game of cricket if anyone can prove that he was filming in ad while he should have been in delhi for the award ceremony. my question is... how many of these cricketers are planning to vote in these elections... both aamir and shahrukh have said that they would be coming back to india to cast their votes... aamir is holidaying in mumbai he would come back just to vote. shahrukh would be in south africa for the IPL but he too plans to come back just to vote. 😀
 
I think the reason could be that "the players or BCCI" unhappy with the Govt. not able to provide security for IPL and so they had to conduct it in SA. but honestly they should have attended it,this is once in lifetime award which rarely few of them get,but i also think that they dont deserved it in first place.for what activement are they given these award?
 
what if they dont want awards? i dont think u can force anyone to come and take awards. i dont like to take award or degree, i wont take it. i wud go and do my work (be it for earning money), but its my choice.

for most cricketers the national awards are usually not once in a lifetime opportunity. they are usually used as fillers to make up for numbers in these ceremonies. any new cricketer which has a good season ends up getting one or the other award. no matter how successful he is in a longer period.

the point also is that they should have informed that they wont be able to attend,which they didnt do.
Degree is different if you dont take today u can take it tomorrow or whenever you need it 😀

if they didnt needed it then if they inform they could have given it to other,why to disrespect the award.

UPDATE 1-Cricket-Australia's Voges puts marriage before team - Cricket - ESPN

Australian middle-order batsman Adam Voges has turned down the chance to play for his country to marry his sweetheart.

The 29-year-old Voges announced on Tuesday he had withdrawn from the Australian one-day team to tour South Africa in order to stay home and tie the knot.

\"It's a big thing to give up an opportunity to play for Australia,\" he told reporters. \"But I guess you only get married once and that's important to me and a decision I've made and one that I'm comfortable with.\"

Voges has played just one one-day international and three Twenty20s for Australia and had already booked his wedding date long before his surprise inclusion in the team for South Africa.

When he realised the second match of the tour, on Apr. 5, clashed with his date at the alter, he asked the national selectors panel (NSP) whether he could return home between the first and third matches.

But Australia's chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said the panel would not allow him to return home midway through a series and Voges had to choose one or the other.

\"Adam informed us yesterday that he was withdrawing from the tour,\" Hilditch said.

\"Obviously this is a difficult decision for Adam to make and the NSP understands the position he's in and the decision he's made.
 
Yeah, I read about Voges but it is his life partner thing and not about money earning thing.

@amish, if you work you will be paid salary, but these cricketers already get contracts and lot of money,so why run for more money?

undeserved awards to them. cancel the awards given to them.

few news channels showed feedback messages similar to what you said,they also asked to cancel the award to them.
 
This is what happens when u start giving awards to random OR momentary famous (and mostly un-deserving) people.Value of awards becomes nothing, not only for the person who gets the award but also for common people.
