I had installed Windows XP in my system. My system was very fast:dance: at the time of windows xp installed. But now, day by day my system is getting slow.😢 Can any body knows the reason for this, and how can i make my system fast. :ashamed:

The speed of the windows depends on the number of applications running in the back ground. If you have installed a lot of new programs that could cause the windows to slow down. It could also be because of a virus, just do an anti-virus scan.

all editions of windows slow down with the passage of time. that is a fact. vista tends to survive longer than xp. the only solution is to reinstall from scratch. you can try running msconfig and cleaning up the startup tools... but if xp is slow due to messed up registry or other issues. nothing really would work.

1) Remove unwanted items from startup.2) Clean up all your system restore points(it takes a lot of space)3) Defrag your drive4) Use CCleaner to clean out all the crap stuff from your PC. It also cleans up the registry from unwanted items too.5) When uninstalling a software, use Revo Uninstaller. It will thoroughly uninstall and will leave no entries related to that software in your PC.Also, speed depends upon how much RAM you have. If you are not interested in buying a new RAM, try eboostr, IF you have a Pen Drive.

yeap. ccleaner is pretty cool. but its really not going to fix your xp installation.

I am using CCleaner every day during shutdown the system also i did disc clearn up regularly. I had Symantec original Anti virus. I try by clean up the registry. :huh:System boot up with in a min. But after boot up it took long time to open IE or my computer. 😢

argh. dont use ccleaner so frequently. do not use symantec either unless its the 2009 edition 😀

Maybe u have some spyware in your PC.Download HijackThis and run it and post the scan log to the concerned forum. Maybe they can find something out.

Ok i will do it. I was plan to upgrade my RAM. but in the shop they told me that, your mother board is too old to support new ram. My mother will support upto 1GB Ram only. Cost of my mother board 1 GB Ram is Rs. 1600/- :OCost of new mohter board 2 GB Ram is Rs. 1200/- 😢

if ur stuck on 2 generation old hardware, adding RAM is not going to make much of a difference. i suggest move to linux. and live happily after!

Have you tried deleting temp files from IE's options. This is the first thing to try if you notice slowdowns.
