hey ppl.. can somebody confirm whether the linux client which can be downloaded as source from the download site work anymore after they introduced the new protocol? i wanna install fedora 4 and wanna confirm whether everythings gonna work fine.. or else theres no sense in messing up my partition setup.. i have to repartition and all.. i remember somebody saying that u have to call sify up and they have to change some setting at their end to get the linux client to work? anybody got their linux box setup succesfully? 🤔

nop it doesnt u get same error as usual to upgrade client .. call them and say and maybe they disable new protocol for your ip ( not sure ) Anyway i use supersify under wine emulator and it works very well . Get wine at www.winehq.org u can easily get precompiled packages for your distro here 🙂

hey thanks i thought nobody was gonna reply 😛 i allready have wine will give it a try... will post back 🙂

I got SIFY to unblock my MAC at their router end -- it does get authenticated -- i havent really checked it when my net gets activated (10pm !!) on Linux -- I think it should work 🙂

I have successfully logged in to SifyBB using the old dialer (v1.3 put up on the site) --I think the SIFY guys have unblocked my MAC at their router end -- but still they can restrict me to the 10pm time when my net starts workingJust call up SIFy and tell them to unblock your MAC at their router end since you want to log into SIFY using Linux CONFIRMED DIALER IS WORKING (atleast at my end)CeeTee

What does MAC have to do with the sify client working or not  ?I use the java client for Macintosh on Linux (old protocols work at my end and all it needs is JRE installed) because it actually logs me in everytime unlike the sify linux client which is very frustrating.

The Linux client works if the old authentication is still supported at your area. If supersify works, the linux clients will. I use Antidialer and Bhushan Tiwari's console client successfully.

we have new protocol in our area .. latest supersify works but sify linux client doesnt work .. bhushan tiwari's and antidialer both doesnt work .. so i am stuck with supersify under wine .. i will call them up sometime .

im using supersify the official client doesnt work.. i just had this very unproductive chat with a sify cc executive he told me to kindly stay online and then after half an hour he asks me which os im using when i told him it was linux lol.. and then after another half an hour he comes up with this... rofl kindly upgrade ur client..

The new protocol lets you log onto Sify using SuperSify but NOT thru the linux dialer nor the MAC Dialer till they unlock your MAC (no idea how it works at their end, but it works for me atleast) -- I've not tried Supersify with Wine yet -- Try speaking to SIFY and keep them on their toes -- that should help -- Pls post any updates

ima try get my mac unlocked too then... bt how dumb can such a large company get.. a considerable amount of ppl today use linux.. how can those *****rs just ignore them
