Does Cable TV operators in India provide internet?

Hi,I live outside India and have a Motorola made cable modem at home for my boradband connection. The internet connection is provided by the local TV companies? Does anybody know whether the cable TV operators in India provide internet service, in particular around Kolkata? I would like to use this modem in India.Otherwise, can I use it if I get the service from BSNL, Airtel etc? Thanx in advacne
 
yeah dude, cable ISP's are there in india. moslty they use motorola surfboard cable modem. and no, u cant use ur cable modem with bsnl or airtel those ISP's work on adsl.

So I have to ask the local cable providers in cal right? thanx a bunch.

Hey leomax, in what way are you sufferring? You didn't get any cable ISP provider?
 
yes they are 🙂Also, some Cable ISPS use 24online client and give direct lan connections.So no need for Cable modem.Like 7star.Infact I don't know if anyway except hathway n Iqara use cable modems?

Hey Vince can you be moer specific? Can I use it even with ISPs like airtel, BSNL etc.?
