I am from Navi Mumbai and have been facing slow browsing issue for the past month.When I ping to the sam server ip and gateway ip, i get continous responses; however when i ping to yahoo, hotmail, google, etc, there are too many timeouts which explains the slow browsing. Are others facing similar issues or know the solution for this. I have been complaining about this for the past month; however it seems that Sify doesn't have a solution for this.Ping log to hotmail website is as follows:Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=333ms TTL=49Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=324ms TTL=49Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=332ms TTL=49Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=335ms TTL=49Request timed out.Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=341ms TTL=50Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=340ms TTL=50Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=323ms TTL=49Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=333ms TTL=49Request timed out.Request timed out.Request timed out.Request timed out.Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=341ms TTL=50Request timed out.Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=343ms TTL=50Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=340ms TTL=50Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=333ms TTL=49Request timed out.Request timed out.Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=338ms TTL=49Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=349ms TTL=49Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=333ms TTL=49Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=1542ms TTL=50Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=1917ms TTL=50Request timed out.Request timed out.Request timed out.Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=4033ms TTL=50Request timed out.Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=1434ms TTL=49Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=1029ms TTL=49Reply from 68.142.226.46: bytes=32 time=722ms TTL=49I ping hotmail, google and yahoo simultaneously and the timeouts are linked. Thanks for the comments. I am not able to understand the cause of the issue, neither them. The switch was replaced yesterday, without luck. 🙁

power, can you confirm the constant replies by running it for more than 3 minutes.

Well I am also from Navi Mumbai and ping result is here..But surfing speed is normal for me. Looks like connectivity issue b/w ur CTO and Sify.....see if other users on LAN face same prom....also ping ur local gateway with higher load say 1000 bytes

Thanks for the suggestion. Have a look at this (ping replies from gateway with higher load. I had tried this earlier when pinging websites, not the gateway). Now, that there are request timeouts, what does it exactly imply.

D:\Documents and Settings\Pat>ping 10.10.251.1 -t -l 1024

Pinging 10.10.251.1 with 1024 bytes of data:

This implies problem with LAN i.e b/w u and ur CTO. I was in a similar situation. But since pings in Delhi outside ur own LAN are blocked.....i cud not ping sites like googleI had good replies with normal load (32 bytes) but with load like 1200-1300 i had almost total timeouts. So Prom is definitely with ur Local CTO's Network.......Keep on calling Sify and ur CTO.....take screenshots of pings and send them to Sify. There could be a network worm or collosion or prom with some wires or hubs....thats ur CTO's headache and dont give ur CTO the service charge unless he corrects his network

try configuring ur link speed/duplex mode.earlier even i was facing the same prob but after many complains the sify guy came to my place and he solved the prob.
he did the setting in the duplex mode section by choosing the 10 half mode.Hope this solves ur problem.

10 half mode? .. Heared this kinda change first time in my life.. does this affect your browsing speed?

yes dude just check ur properties of LAN card. and then goto the configure thier u will find the link speed mode.Even i got this thing happen first time in my life when the sify technician did in front of me. but that did solve my problem.so nothing wrong in doing the changes and see whether it solves ur prob. If the problem persist even after making the changes then u can always redo the change.

Already tried this long back. Doesn't help in my case 🙁This is some other strange issue and after many complaints, the timeouts have decreased, but there are still some timeouts slowing down the browsing. Thanks for the suggestions.
