Hey Admin, can u pls conclude your satisfaction/dissatisfaction with Airtel IPTV usage. As I am really excited to have it installed. Actually I am looking for a broadband connection for me so this gives me dual advantage instead of me going for a DTH and broadband separately. In other thread you seem dissatisfied, was that momentarily or the problem stays? Should I go for it or no? As the initial investment seems expensive to me. Thanks.

that is the problem with airtel iptv. initial investment is so much compared to dth services.and even the monthly charges are much higher unless you go for the combo package (999 + service tax rupees for 256 UL and IPTV)...it's totally worth it considering the time shift functionality which is super awesome. but the service remains buggy as network problems mess up with iptv broadcast. for me, it works fine most of the time. but the problems i am noticing generally appear at night time and last for a couple of hours... during that time watching the tv becomes painful. i really cannot say much as i have not seen many people around here who already have the iptv connection from airtel.

thanks for being informative. If i'll be gng ahead with this then i'll be selecting this triple combo offer only as I dont have airtel ph/broadband as of now.But few more ques:"for me, it works fine most of the time. but the problems i am noticing generally appear at night time and last for a couple of hours... during that time watching the tv becomes painful.">> Internet - during this timeframe does Internet also goes off? or the speed is reduced?>> TV - all channels gets affected or some features like TSTV etc stops working? FTA channels are also affected?I really liked the installation procedure and thanks for those pics. Thanks.

no problems with the internet... well when the problem starts its a problem with the entire feed. some channel work after waiting for like 30 seconds but the overall situation is pretty hopeless. remote stops working and i have to reboot the STB to get it to work again!

i end up watching all the shows on star world as per my convenience. fast forwarding through the ads. 3 hour programming can be watched in much less time using time shift television.

This i think will be prove to be the limiting factor to Airtel (or anyone else) adding more channels to time-shift. The advertisers kicking up a stink with the channels and saying not to allow this 🙁

It is also out of Airtel's hands so any future changes to this policy are possible.

Which is a pity as i see this as one of the biggest advantages of IPTV. Any interruption, just pause or rewind back and resume.

hey admin, >> is EPG (elec prg guide) comprehensive and user friendly for TSTV channels/programs?i really hope that airtel come up with some soln with this feed problem.and ya blr_p, this sounds logical to me.....but i guess the only major advantage i find of IPTV over DTH is TSTV and if they r unable to find channels for this then I doubt that this wud be successful over DTH.I can bear with some feed issues with the TV but not with the internet, hence I shall go ahead with Airtel IPTV and will finally be ordering in few days. And the package for me is the combo one (with all 3 services). But any idea is 256kbps sufficient to support smooth video-conf? or a smooth youtube streaming video? But they dont have any plan of providing higher than this with IPTV. And is this 256kbps dedicated? any idea?

256kbps won't be enough for smooth youtube playback without waiting for it to load completely.it should be enough for video chats at low resolution.it's as dedicated as airtel's fair usage policy can be. the other option is to go for a faster internet plan with the premium iptv plan. turns out to be hell lot expensive. i pay for example 1700 for 512kbps + 450 for IPTV.

Thanks Admin for your inputs!! This indeed will really help most of us for cautiously selecting the service in subject.

i really hope every new customer get to hear my and other user's experiences on this forum or from other similar channels...airtel the way they are providing services to iptv customers at the prices is not turning out to be a good deal.for example. the problem fixing people do not work on a sunday. so if i filed a complaint on a saturday night (like i did last night), i would only get the support on a monday morning. and since the problem is only occurring for me at nights, any dude landing during the day time is not going to be of ANY help to me!

Problems only ocurring at nights seems to indicate congestion in the network and/or their servers can't meet the demand.I myself am wondering how its feasible to provide time-shift from the back end ?

i dont think they have more than 500 customer in gurgaon. the dude who installed the connection at my place said that they had set up 25 connection in a period of 10 days.

if they cannot handle this congestion. what can airtel do? OMG! Ponies. never mind.

this is just one of the amusing messages airtel had for me last night on the airtel iptv connection....

From the screenshots of channels and menus - it seems better than any DTH because i cannot find {AIRTEL} logo on any channels which is really good. If that happens even after commercial launch, i am going to buy it.Sushubh - what do you think? What is better? DTH or IPTV?

Airtel IPTV has launched commercially! I like what i see. But you are going to find IPTV annoying. changing channels can take 2-3 seconds. Menu are damn slow. just like surfing web pages. i am used to it now but i bet any new user would tear his hair out.

i can bet that airtel iptv is going to be slower than ANY DTH service out there. as for airtel iptv, i believe they are going to concentrate only in larger cities looking at the investment required. it is too expensive to be launched in smaller cities.
