I have a DNA-A211-I ADSL2+ Modem. It went fo repair by BSNL and they exchanged it for another. Now I cannot access the user settings (http://192.168.1.1) as the default user name and password were changed by the previous user. BSNL are unable to help. How can I reset the password?

Thanks

1. Why you need to access the modem settings ?
probably you are getting connected to Internet,
by using a dialer . ( you need not enter ID
and PW in modem WAN page " bridged' mode now )

Usual Port Forwarding ?
confirm.

2.Only way to get default Id admin and password
'password" or "admin" is to reset the modem/router.
Look for a small round recess near right hand corner, leg,
if there is no reset button or recess in the back.

3. You can try ID: multiplay and password : password or bsnl
( set by BSNL most probably )

4. For reprogramming the modem,
after restoring to factory defaults
see this web site/s for details. Same type

HelloThank you for your quick reply.Yes, I can access the internet but want to connect my laptop using WiFi. With the previous DNA-A211-I ADSL2+ Modem it worked OK. Now with this replacement and having NOT changed any settings on the laptop, I cannot connect. The WiFi settings could be disabled in the modem settings as the WLAN light is not on where as previously it was.Yes, I have tried both the admin/admin and multiplay/password user/passwords but niether work even after pressing the reset button. Could I FLASH the modem to reset? Thanks in advancePredeep

[Could I FLASH the modem to reset?/quote]

After trying reset you are still connected to Internet ?
Did you try for 20 to 30 seconds with power on ?
If properly reset you may have to enter/edit VPI/VCI 0 35 etc.
Para two:
First priority is to access modem's settings pages

Could I FLASH the modem to reset?
Not understood. This term normally used for Firmware update.
Even for this you must open modem pages !

The reset button is present on all modems/routers from BSNL. Its only marked in the model from siemens...The others - USStarcom/ZTE..its at the bottom...I mean literally underneath...Turn over the modem up-side-down and you see numerous holes that are square in shape...Out of this there will be one small round one...That's the reset switch.....bullzeye_rp
