1. I just got my first bill and I got charged Rs. 250 as rental charges apart from the Rs. 590 and 80. Does everyone get charged rental?2. Everytime mtnl disconnects me at 12 am I have to manually login as the modem changes itself to bridge mode and I use PPPoe mode. This never used to be a problem earlier when I used the default password. I have also tried using bridge mode but it never works for me. Any idea what could be the problem?

I still dont understand how can d modem setting change from PPPoE mode to Bridged mode. 🤔

ya that once happened to me, the modem automatically switched to bridge mode. but after i changed it to pppoe it was all fine, didnt have that problem again.

same with me, i also cant understand how can the modem change from PPPoE to bridge mode.I guess some ghost is present in ur modem who changes the settings, 🙂

Exactly........even i've been using it since october. Until u technically clarify ur problem..no1 will b able 2 help u.

Well I change it to bridge mode, then I go to tools and reboot the router. Then I wait some time until all the lights come flashing on and then it doesn't work. I change back to PPPoe mode and it works again. I tried the bridge mode when I got the connection and since it didn't work I reverted back to PPPoe. Can somone tell me about the rental issue also please?

Have you also created a new network connection as described in this post ?
https://broadband.forum/Possible_solution...t1730-s15.html#

You have to do this before you can connect using bridged mode. This is something that is not needed when you are in the default PPPoE mode, and so you might have missed this step.

most probably another case of not reading the complete post..its in two parts, vishalJ...follow it to the word and u will have bridge mode up and running in no time.BTW in that post on 2nd page i have referred to setting up bridge mode on windows XP. If u have any other OS like 95/98/me etc u have to use RASPPPoe coz they dont come with inbuilt PPPOE dialer like win xp

ya Vishalj read the post and follow all steps, nobody has problem with bridge mode and nobody should have problems with it...

well, regarding ur question of Rs. 250/- rental, that's for the phone...i believe...

But I never use the phone.. I think I'll try and call 1504 and ask them if I could cancel the phone thing as I don't use this number to make outgoing calls.I'll try the bridge mode again...

not using the phone doesnt mean u dont have to pay the rent....when u rent a phone they give u 'x' free calls!
