Well... this has started happening just recently. One day, the ADSL link was down. Without confirming with CC, i thot sumtin was wrong wit my PC. I formatted & reinstalled XP.As they say, haste makes waste!! 🙁everything runs smoothly... speed is gud. But theres one problem that I face. Whenever I run a P2P app, lik say eMule or BitComet... i cant browse. None of the sites open. Even after shutting down the apps, i can't browse though downloading speeds within the P2P apps is gr8.If i want to browse, i hve to log off n then log in again or restart the PC and the router twice.I thot sumtin was wrong wit the router, but when i run everything under win 2k, it all works n i can browse smoothly while the apps run in the background.what cud be the problem.i hve reinstalled xp sp2 twice, n now im on MCE. But still the problem persists.HELP!!

After u shut the app , is there any data transfer which takes place ? your p2p s/w might not be shutting properly is what i feel on first thought!

Only a Windows user can do this... 🙂

Anyway, I think eMule or whatever p2p app you're using is trying to establish more than 100 outgoing connections thats why its not working in XP SP2 and it works fine in 2000. Actually your actions contributed to the problems. SP2 is the one responsible for limiting those connections 😉

There was a fix for SP2's limitation but since I am NOT a Winbloze user I cant point you to the right URL. Maybe one of your pals may come around and guide you to the right software! ( rather than recommending a reinstall ) 😀

@ max : i dont normally behave tis way... dont reinstall my OS after getting stuck everytime!! 😉wat i wanted to say is that the p2p apps r workin fine... its just that after i shut em... the router shows no transfer... n when i try to open or browse a site... nuthin opens althought the lights on the router blink rapidly.further since morning, im not able to open some sites like mail.yahoo.com when the connection is configured via lan n is always on... but when i configure it to bridged mode n dial... the sites start opening n even open while the router is connected to USB.the problems keep mounting... 🙁EDIT:While connecting in bridged mode, i am also getting an IP Address conflict error... is it normal?

problem solved... it appearsmy sister tried acting smart n messed up some router settings which I the smart one cudnt configure. The airtel guy came n sorted it out.Post can be closed. If nebody else faces the same problem on Beetel 220BX ADSL2+ Modem, PM me, I'll post a backup file of the settings for u.
