I have got a new Airtel broadband connection in Hyderabad today. The modem given is Beetel 110BX1 with a single lan port. It is set as an always on connection (PPPOE). I want to use it in bridge mode with a dialer (made, for example, with RASPPOE). Earlier, I have used the bridge mode + raspppoe dialer with MTNL Triband in Mumbai without any problems and I prefer the bridge mode to the always on PPPOE mode. I know how to make a dialer with RASPPPOE. I also know how to enable the bridge mode option under the WAN settings of the 110bx1 modem. I want to know what other values need to be changed under the WAN options. Also, please let me know what I should do in case something goes wrong. I have already backed up the modem configuration to a file. Thanks in advance.

Access this page in modem.
Click edit
Next no change
Next
Connection type
uncheck \"PPP/PPPoE\"
select \"Bridged\"
rest of the settings same
SAVE reboot wait for two or three minutes
Try the dialer.

no other changes. Unlikely any problem will arise.
In case you don't connect connect revert back to AlwaysOn "
mode.
Report the fault.

BTW, for the benefit of readers, this also takes care of the open ports if you use the Sheilds UP service from grc.com

I need help on one more point.

Can someone guide me to a post or give a solution to getting the green icon in utorrent so that incoming connections are possible? Also, I hope I do not have to open any ports for this.

Thanks.

Although i have been regularly lurking on this forum for the past couple of years, it is only today I have realized how great this forum is!
