torrent downloading is a bit slow as compared to normal dirct download in connect hfcl connectioni have a 300 - 700 kbps range line where direct downloads are around 60 - 70 kbpsbut torrents are only around 40when cheked through u torrent the port is always blockedany help to get the green signal in port ?the router is probably atrie or something not sure

same prob here. hope somebody can help. torrent speed is abysmally low on connet hfcl punjab. 🙁

sat sri akal,
paaji when i got connection, i had same problem..
but now its lil bit solved
1st of alll, lemme solve ur misunderstanding
you have 300-700Kbps line ( small 'b' in kbps ) it means Kilo bits per second
while u get speed 60-70 kBps ( capital 'B' in kBps) means Kilo Bytes per second
To get speed in kilobytes per second , divide the speed in kilobits per second by 8
In your case , if u get speed 700kbps, ur downlaod speed will be 700/8=87kBps
😀
so the speed u getting is OK for such a small ISP
for Torrents
u'll have to port forward
Ihope u have same modem as mine

Port Forward
1) Open your browser . Type 192.168.1.1 in address bar
2) It will ask for username password , most ppl have default ones, Try these username & passwords

USERNAME = Admin
PASSWORD = admin or pass or password

3) Router Window will open. Click on Advanced Setup on Left side
4) Then click on NAT, then Virtual Servers.
5) Click on Add button middle of window.
6) Now type things as shown in picture...

http://img519.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tuteg8.jpg

Notice that red colored thing, the IP i typed there is my computes LAN IP,
To get your LAN IP, do this
Start>RUN> Type 'CMD'
Cmd will open, type there 'ipconfig'

Notice the default gateway, type this Ip to virtual server table described in step 6

7) Then Click on Apply.. & restart ur modem

Configuring utorrent

1) Open utorrent. Click on Option > SPeed Guide
2) In CUrrent Port box ,type the port we just forwarded ie. 40978 & click Use Selected Settings

Congrats, we're done

Make sure that 'Randomize port each start' is unchecked in Option>Preferences > Connection menu

If u have any problem post it here😀

Sat Sri Akal Saman.Thats so helpful of you. Saman I have followed the method & Hope to see some changes happening in the speed. Just curious if this is what it was intended to do:huh: Prior to this tweak I was getting a speed of around 5 to 11KBPS as per the Utorrent on an average. Is it going to have some effect on the overall performance. Hope you can tell others about your experience of this tweak. I am glad you replied in another thread of mine which will be the single place to HFCL problem solving & Tweaks. Let me know what this tweak was intended to do so that I could give the link of this thread in the master thread. Thanks & RegardsSaksham KatyalGreat it worked for me. Port forwarding is success with this tweak. Thanks a ton saman. Moreover the uploading speed is more than download at times. Does that makes a difference in downloading speed. Have you find any change in your download speed.:huh:Thanks & RegardsSaksham Katyal

In my opinion, upload speed doesnt effect ur download speed..Separate slots are alloted for both.Port forwarding help peers to connect to youMore peers=more speedIn torrent u wont get speed immidiately, it will take time to connect to peers & seedersU better leave downloads @ night.in 444 plan, m able to download 1gb if i start download @ 11:00pm & it will be downloaded when i wake up 8:00amCheck other thread for a gud tweak..

I wonder why its not working. did you go as per the instructions. I am afraid if you did something wrong. 🙁 For me it worked great.

na checked everything again port still blockedany more suggestionsalso how can i use the bridge mode so i have to use the dialer everytime to connect rather than always onjust like bsnl broadbandthis woud give me a new ip address so ican download stuff from sites like link-removed

why aren't you able to download from link-removed now. I am having no problem in doing that. Moreover I am new to HCL connect so can't suggest anything as of now. I will tell you in case I find something. Till then you better google it. Good luck..

There is no use of downloading big things from link-removed unless u have premium accountThey dont give resume support 😡Use link-removed.com , i can resume from there

hey bro i have done everything as you said regarding port forwarding for utorrent, but its still blocked, plz help i m using hfcl connect broadband
