I wanted to understand the use of USB, Modem and Ethernet ports at the back side of Tata Sky+ STB. Are these functional now? If not, then what will be these used for?.
None of these are functional as of now.
This is information I picked from Sky Hacks and found it works to setup a new disk or to access the installation channels.
While on any channel, press [organizer] on the remote
2. Then select system setup a
3. Now on the remote press and then [select]
4. You will now be presented with a hidden menu that is used by engineers to set up your system
This gives access to
1. formatting the disk
2. setup new channels
3. LNB access channels
4. Modem Seup
5. Remote TV.
6. RF Out Setting - This can be used to setup a second TV

i recently upgraded from Tata Sky to tata sky plus and while doing an internet search for instructions on upgrading the hdd of tata sky plus i came across this websitei had a spare 320gb 3gbps sata2 wd hdd which is the same type as the 160gb one in the ts+first i changed the setting in the tata sky+ to hdd manual management and prewiew buffer to 0 minsdeleted all my recordings- had only 2 which i had already watched switched off the stb and disconnected all the cables and opened the ts+ stb and took out the original hdd and connected that and the 320 gb hdd to my pc through internal sata cablesthe format of the original ts+ hd is fat32 and i am using windows vista which will not allow you to format a hdd above 32gb to fat32 so spent some time searching the net and came across a small program(fat32 formatter which is 400kb size download) which did the fat32 format for the 320gb hdddownloaded copy+ software which did not recognize the format of the original ts+ hddso tried nortan ghost and copied the 160gb ts+ hdd to the 320gb hdd following which the 320gb drive appeared as a 160gb drive in my computer properties connected the 320 gb drive to the ts+ stb and switched it onwell it worked till i went into the tata sky+ settings and tried to change the options which would not stick and when i came back to the channels the picture had disappearedso put the original 160 gb hdd back and its working finemaybe it may work if the stb could be reset and the new hdd formatted by the stbbut i could not find the settings to reset the stb and format the hddsomeone has posted images of the service menu of the stb on this page but didnt post how he was able to access it?has anyone been able to successfully swap the hdd of the tata sky plus stb?
