Users can avail this scheme by buying a new connection for Rs. 999 and they would get the special privilege of receiving lifetime validity scheme for its prepaid subscribers. Most GSM mobile service providers usually extend validity by a month on their top up packages. Users are also required to top up their cards to continue receiving incoming calls.

Lifetimee means 6 months.

You have to recharge at least once in 6 months to keep the phone alive.

No actually Liftetime is 29 years for Hutch and Airtel and 27 for ideaIn Airtel u have to either make an outgoing call, receive incoming or make any small rechare in 6 months whereas in Hutch u have to recharge with any amount(even withRs 10) atleast once in 6 months

Will the phone be alive if I do not recharge in 6 months (but do receive a few incoming calls)?

my body wont last for 29 years...

Looked at it and found this gem hidden in their terms and conditions:

Validity for Lifetime is subject to change in regulatory or license conditions in the future.[/b]

So, if others (Tata et el) drop their offer so will Airtel

eh? They would have their standard crap saying that they can withdraw the offer ot modify its terms and conditions without prior notice to the user...
