Hi,I am planning to shift over to airtel BB very soon. i wish to buy modem from market. Can anybody list the modems that work over airtel BB?? please include the manufacturer, model number and current market price if possible.Thanx a lot in advance.

Hmm...sorry spdf! I'm a newbie here! Well I use the USB Modem given by Airtel Beetel 220BXWell wht the other guys tell is that the Ethernet Modem is better than the USB coz its got Port forwarding and all those stuffs! Well it is time for the MAestros of this Forum to guide u! Where's Max, uthfull, sushubh, stpdms, SiriusBB and all other ppl? Please guys tell him a good suggestion! 😀Regards,Amuthan

Before u go buy a router check with Airtel if they allow users to use their own routers like MTNL does coz am not sure u can. If they say u can, then get a D-Link 502T and make sure it has the latest firmware. It's the best around i guess and commonly available.

Airtel had provided me with a D-Link 502T router and it worked fine until something went wrong one fine day in their exchange and they changed it to Beetel 220BX (thrice) mistakingly thinking it might have been in the modem...... never noticed any change in the speed or functionality. I suggest you rent a router from Airtel.... If anything goes wrong you just give them a call and they change it for you. You know how it is in our country with electricity fluctuating every now and then.....can burn your modem.

not if you're in Mumbai. I too agree with you. You should always get a modem from them simply because buying one turns out costly. You know how it is these days. Chinese maal cannot be trusted.

I have a big question. Suppose that i am using airtel BB for two years. Then i will be paying 99*24~2400Rs as the modem rent. Then in that case it will be better to buy modem for 2000Rs. am i right or wrong?......

Do they have any option like if we use airtel BB for so and so months, the modem will be ours and the rental will be waived from then on.. anybody know if such option is there?????

I am using the Beetel usb modem supplied by Airtel for the last 3 years. it is like rock. 🙂
no problems.
i am paying rs.90 pm as rental. the price of it comes to rs.2000/-
one advantage of my arrangement is whenever any problem arises Airtel will replace it with another working modem.

my suggestion is dont buy. hire it from them. if you are still desiring to go for your own then go for a router which may be slightly expensive, but in the long run worthwhile.

honest appreciation begets excellent service. trouble free broadband for the end user depends on field staff, besides costly router and modem. 🙄

Am still curious as to whether they'll allow us to use our own modem. Coz suppose in my case i wanna switch to Airtel from MTNL, instead of getting rid of the MTNL connection entirely i cud switch to their zero rental plan, continue paying them the rent for the 502T and use it with Airtel and if anythin goes wrong with the modem i get MTNL to replace it. So i get a backup connection and i have the flexibilty of doing away with Airtel incase they don't meet with my expectations for wtever reasons and simply switch back to NU rather than get a new connection and paying the installation charges again.
