i dont think they'll do that. Because they've already mentioned CLEARLY in their WONDERFUL website, that 1gb is more than enough for us bums to check emails!!!!!! WOW!!!

Latest slogan if they increase the data cap->

"Check MORE E-Mails with BSNL Broadband!!"

"If you want to escape from our WONDERFUL Data-caps, Dont Sleep!!!
Download ALL you want at NIGHT!"

Edit: the second slogan is outdated 😛

"Check MORE E-Mails with BSNL Broadband!!"LOL!

BSNL is going to install their own undersea cable in colaboration with Srilankian telephone Company within 4 months, I read in newspaper. After commissioning that a better plan may be expected.

Please quote the source. As far as I know,BSNL has signed a deal with NEC Corporation of Japan for a 320 km undersea cable, connecting Tiruchendur in southern Tamil Nadu and Colombo in Sri Lanka.

BSNL-MTNL's JV on ILD before March '06

Look at the standard of people working at BSNL. They dont even know the difference between MB and Mbps. From BSNL website "MTNL launched its broadband services commercially in April '05. In seven months, it has got a subscriber base of 1,10,000. It has slashed tariffs for its broadband services to Rs 199 per month for 400 Mbps of download."

Here's the link.

However, I got a wonderful software called 'Automate 6 Enterprise' and downloading things everynight without losing sleep. Its a tremendously powerful software (it even support VBScript meaning u can control every part of ur pc with it!!) and I am sure its our best defense against this dumb BSNL.

Power shutdown is also Ok. Are you able to disconnect and reconnect modem with Automate 6?Edit: The question applies only if you are using the inbuilt modem dialer.

Dosn't matter whether u hve internal or external modem, or ADSL modem. U can connect, reconnect, disconnect, run specific software or close them, press specifit button of any software, bring it to forground, use their menu, send keystrokes to application, emulate mouse actions, make condtional statements....what not!!!!!
(U can even use VBScripts)

Dudes, forget NU.... WiMAX is coming in 2006 ! (no thats not an "official" or "confirmed" rumour, just a guess)

BSNL, AirTel, Reliance and Tata/VSNL...

If TRAI can flex its puny muscles, then that will be free-for-all competition for subscribers hehe

But, given the track-record, it might take another 5-10 yrs heh

Hopefully not. I just wish that all ISPs realize soon that data and port caps are stupid... 😕
