How to uninstall windows media encoder

i wanted to convert a vcd into wmv format. i updated windows media encoder from version 7 to 9. but i by mistake downloaded the portugese version and installed it. now when i run the setup file of english version.....it says some other version is already installed and u must remove it 1st. i cannot find an entry for it in add remove prgrams.....can anybody help.......i am stuck with portugese version....which i dont understand and i am unable to install english.....plz help

Either format & re-install your OS.

or u can use more dare davill aprroch now uninstall wmp then its folder, restart , from program file then go to system 32 folder chose the detail view left cilck on bar which says name size date created , from the drop down menu select more in poped up window select "discriptinon" now read the dicription whatever dont appear as english to u making no sense or looking like random words has been written deletethe stuff to safe place ## . restart now when u are done run a good registery cleaner like registery mechanic or tune up at full streanth or deep scan they call it now delete the entries restart try to install now ##in case u cont find any foriegn language delete the stuff to safe place whatever says window media or has "wmp" any where mentioned in his name or discrption.

If u r using XP simply run SYSTEM RESTORE..if tht is anabled 4 u. Else search 4 entries 4 Windows Media Encoder in ur registry & then delete it.

well i no expert 🙂 but u can try dis:control panel->add remove progs-> check the show updates buttonnow uninstall the player(or watever u installed) it will roll back to previous version and i hope lang. will be english only! 😀 hope dis works! please do reply if dis works(also if it doesn't work, then we will see other jugad for it 🙂 ) i think it's tedious 4 one to re-install windows and other progs.

Forget it.... i messed it all up......i made a big mistake....forget it .....now i use Real Producer for encoding tasks.....

if you switch over to linux then you can use mencoder!

just use VLC player. Windows media player sucks.
