seats two medium sized adults. cost around 15 lakhs in india.

indian customer wont buy reva. forget smart. its just an over expensive piece of a technological marvel.

Reva is a different thing. Its hardly a car. It can't go beyond 85 km on full charge, max speed it 65kmph. I can't speak for others, but If a car can handle two passengers, go up to 120 kmph, and gives that kind of milage then i am game. And petrol being 50 something Rs per liter (In Mumbai) does influence my decision  Dunno what Diesel costs here. How much do you pay for Petrol / Diesel per liter? Look at these videos, interesting:[video=google;6605730767077503480]http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6605730767077503480(You will have to login to some PC outside India).

the car is from merc. it costs around 8 times the amt you would pay for a maruti 800. i think i will pass. i am a 6 foot tall dude. getz crdi would be a better car for me.

Maruti 800 is one of the best cars to get around town. Very economical in terms of fuel and maintenence.

man these are the first ones.. and maybe the last ones.. cause hybrid would take over. and would be the technology of the near future.!so reva being expensive .. well.. they wann show it as like the ipod of the music world.. !! i saw one reva.. i think it was at irla.. man.. its sooo small!!

Yaa current price in India (15 lack) is insane, what I said was I might be interested if they start building it in India and sell at 3- 5 lack levels.

wishful thinking. even if Merc make that car in india. it wont be below 10 lakh... they are selling you the brand. not just the car.

I said "I might be interested if they start building it in India" so Import duty and stuff does not apply. As for rest of the things, they are there for any other car.

so here is a factually correct answer...no company would build a car here unless it has volumes. this car wont get a volume coz no one would buy a small car this size for more than 1-2 lakh rupees.if they wont manufacture here, they would import kits and assemble here. and then all the things i mentioned WOULD apply.
