Static IP?

Tata indicom users, do you have a Static or Dynamic ip??i seem to be getting 2 or 3 differnt ips every time i log on! one starting with 61 and the other with 211..Arent we supposed to have Static ips? Thats what i was told when i got my connection...

If u have router connection u must have got a static ip and if u have a modem connection ur ip will keep on changing. I previously got modem connection but recently changed to router. Personal IP in 500 rs is not bad at all 😉

Thanks hitman, they've given me an old BIPAC 7000 modem...If you dont mind my asking, why did you opt for a router?

There were quite a few reasons. First the drivers of modem which was smc 7007 keep conflicting with something and whenever the line trips my pc would restart . It wasn't sorted even after multiple window reinstallations and also driver reinstall too. Secondly my work is web development so it is pain to keep uploading to server for clients demo. So i just provide them the url to my ip and they check the demo. Moresoever sharing is easy with ur friends as u don't need to upload the things just give them the link and they will do the rest 😉 Also if i want i can host my site on it but as my pc is on for 16-20 hrs a day so 3rd party hosting is fine.

uh...if you're using DHCP then you should be getting a dynamic IP 😉
