the govts plans to have a biometric national id cards for everyone by 2010.In usa the real id act is facing fierce resistance as 20 states have signed legislation opposition this as well in UK as groups like defyid and no2id.THis national id card makes india a police state,mass surveillance society and blurs the difference btw nazi germany and india.
the supreme court has interpreted that we have the right to privacy which the national id card violates.Why isnt anyone doing to stop this.I contacted times of india ,cnn ibn,ndtv but got no reply?.


we already have voter id card,passport,driver license,ration card,pan card(similar to social security card in us.).EVen is usa the ss card is not to be used as a id card.why do we need a chip card?the only thing that i can think is abut control and monitoring us.

its not about timeframe,its about acceptance,will you accept it or revolt against this totalitarian initiative.delhi would have by next year and the shivra patil said that by 2011 everyone will have this.I would fight this in the court if i have to.This is against the fundamental rights and freedom and liberty.

having one card for everything would make my wallet lighter though and that nasty feeling that my right butt cheek's drooping would probably go away too.

if the data is encrypted and safe from outside world (= hackers and other nations) then i have no prob.s though there are some conditions:1. no id card to bangladesi's and pakis etc living here under fake names:madness:2. plz clean the street of these goons.3. proper data protection (which the state(=INDIA) cannot offer):wall:4. Stringent screening process before issuing the cards (not like driving licenses which are virtually obtainable by anyone here!):madness:

would be funny seeing a displaced person on the street flashing an id card... he'd probably sell it to a terrorist...

In INDIA - people dont even care for PAN Card, Voter Card, Ration Card - they are all available as fake in grey market then what would a NATIONAL ID CARD can make a mess - just imagine!!!!! Its a dangerous move - these politicians can wash our ass to get our votes - thats their basic common aim - doesnt matter what happens to the country after few years - because by that time they will have enough money into their swiss account and they will leave country. :madness:

you still dont get it,you are only concerned with your wallet weight not and not your privacy.Do check the no2id site.If we get a national id card then we would no longer be a free country,our movement would be tracked and rfid can be cracked.

It might be possible for america, but how many people would a government employ to keep track of 1 billion people?

What info could ID card held - Name, birth date/place, photo, fingerprint, blood group, address, education?Where it could be used - we already have Passport, PAN card, driving license, ration card, voting card. Will ID card replace some/all of these?What would be benefits & loss of having this card?

there is simply no benefits.the only benefit is that all your data id on a single readable chip period.

in essence it would be a centralized database where all your actions are tracked.This goes against the fundamental right to privacy

what say that was sarcastic.IN US 20 states have signed legislation opposing national id.Thankfully the 10th amendment lets them to secede from the union if the fed is playing not by the book.IN UK there is also opposition.
