well i have tried both kubuntu and ubuntu..all is well except for that its a pain to setup multimedia codecs in both.Currently on Kubuntu, also network configuration is not easy in kubuntu though it was good in ubuntu.In fedora 4 just following the instructions at fedorafaq.org got me up and running with the multimedia codecs in just under an hour.1 thing though, the faq advises to use yum, but synaptic and apt works better in fedora, yum is a bit slow.edit: I am convinced about ubuntu but i wont recommend kubuntu though KDE is a lot better than gnome.I have sent a mail to my college group about your blog...so expect many hits on your blog!!!
 
i m waiting for that day when high level games that require huge 3d cards say "recommeded OS=Linux" may work slower in windows! 😛😛
 
I have not used Ubuntu much, but I can see that it is quite a balanced distro, has an easy to use interface and has a lot of the power of debian. While I use Arch Linux as my primary distro, I recommend ubuntu to every new user. A few things I would like to see are better install options (the expert option gives good flexibility, but if you don't want to have to make so many choices, you can only choose between two modes), a "light" desktop install that uses a desktop environment like XFCE and doesn't install much software by default.
