My internet connection went down last evening and today evening two airtel technicians managed to fix the problem after fiddling around for three hours. Problem was in the modem, they changed my modem from D-Link to beetel and currently everthing works fine. While they were at it (two of them)...i got chatting with them and mentioned the upgradation that some people have mentioned in some of the broadband forums, they said that by next month all connections will be doubled. and that by next year they will no longer have any connection below 256K and will also be providing connections upto 10 mbps, by April next year. Looks like good days ahead for Indian broadband finally.....BSNL watchout! 😀

so now the source of information is airtel linesmen.

henh... "yeh bechaara, broadband ke boj ka maara. inhe chahiye wimax ki dhaara"

;-)

wimax? does not matter to me. i just need reliable stable fast internet connectivity. it comes through my sewer line. does not matter to me.

hope those linemen weren't blabbering... cant wait to get 512k or 1mbps unlimited again.... those early days of BSNL 512k 24x7 unlimited offer were heaven!man, 10 mbps by april next year? WTF?! if that happens, COOL!i doubt it will happen... BSNL and other Govt crooks are there to create problems for private players in the market... hehe sneaky bastids

Coming to think of it, they will offer something like 10 Mbps with 20GB cap per month...WTF?!?!More is always less!!!

if they start offering 10 mbps then it wont be capped at 20 gb , trust me it will be so unlike Airtel to do this shit.Waise broadband thru sewer line good idea re sushubh evry indian lives near a huge nallah 🙂

I wish BSNL also releases some new plans or else they r goin to lose all their customers to Airtel.

that is what u assume. most people just do not care. and those who do, dont even trust bsnl now...

My connection has gone down again! I have not been able to surf the net properly since Saturday evening. Hope Airtel is able to rectify the problem soon, or else my hopes of getting high-speed connection would start fading soon. They have changed my modem for the third time now. Have you all noticed that BSNL is feeling the heat; they have come up with some new offer until Dec. 25th wherein the rental, installation, fee, etc is all wavered. I am sure they too are aware that they can’t keep fleecing their customers for long. I don’t know why people are getting excited about the supposedly 10 mbps scheme that Airtel might offer next year…. My guess is that it would be strictly for corporate use and not for the home users. It would simply be too expensive for any home user to afford …unless you were born with a golden spoon in your mouth! Realistically I expect that by next year onwards I would be surfing on 512 k instead of the 256 k that I am currently at, and for no additional cost. And yes, I expect it to be unlimited and nothing short. I have a feeling Airtel would do it by December end… as a way to generate hype and excitement around the Christmas/New Year time, and also to comply with TRAI definition of broadband. Hopefully by next year-end I expect to be on 1Mbps. Once Airtel starts providing 512 kbps unlimited for Rs. 999…. the others would have to follow suit. I have a feeling Reliance is just waiting for things to stabilize a little and then launch itself with a bang. ‘Cause seriously even 512 k is not exactly broadband…most people here have just made a leap from dialup and therefore anything above 56k is a bonus for them. But just ask others who have been surfing on T1 connections abroad, the Indian broadband experience has been like garbage…. Therefore understand my frustration. It is true that many Indians are happy with their 256 k connections provided by BSNL. Infact some in my office have downgraded their plans from their existing Rs. 500 to Rs. 250, and praise of BSNL for providing them with such inexpensive broadband, since all they do is check their mail. I am pretty sure BSNL will come up with Rs. 10, 50, and 100 plans soon. I hope the cables in the sewer are metal coated otherwise the rats down under would not leave them alone for long.

I think you've been had by two very clever linesmen 😉 As of today, I have lost all hope of getting a broadband connection. The last ray of light has been cut off! I lie motionless in the darkness 😕
