Contest
Tell-a-Tale contest (“Contest”) is a contest open only to Principals and Teachers of schools that have a Tata Sky connection with a School Pack subscription. To participate in the contest, principals/ teachers should author original short stories for children and submit the same to Tata Sky Ltd. (Tata Sky). The winners will get cash prizes and their stories will be showcased on Tata Sky.

Principals and teachers of schools having a Tata Sky connection and participating in the Contest shall be bound by the following terms and conditions:
Definitions


[*]“Contest Period”: means the period of the Contest commencing on 1 August 2008 and ending on 10 September 2008
[*]“Participant”: principal/teacher of schools having a Tata Sky connection participating in the Contest
[*]“School Pack”: a special package comprising educational channels only offered by Tata Sky to the schools
[*]“Valid entry”: Story(ies) submitted in the prescribed format by eligible Participants
[/list] Eligibility


[*]The Contest is open only to Participants
[*]The Participant must (i) be a resident of India (ii) be above 18 years of age (iii) have a valid PAN card to qualify and participate in the Contest
[*]Participants should ensure that Tata Sky receives their Valid entry/ entries latest by Wednesday, 10 September 2008. Entries received by Tata Sky after this date will not be considered for the Contest
[*]Tata Sky reserves the right, at any time, to verify eligibility requirements, in any manner deemed appropriate. Only a Valid entry will be eligible for selection for the Prize
[/list] Story format


[*]Participants can send in their story(ies) in English or Hindi
[*]The story(ies) should be suitable for children in the age group of 2-7 years
[*]The story should have a minimum of 125 words and a maximum of 200 words
[*]The story should have a moral
[*]Participant must ensure that the story submitted by the Participant is an original literary work solely of the Participant and does not infringe on the copyright of any third party; any infringement shall be attributable to the Participant only and the Participant shall solely be responsible for any legal action taken against the Participant or Tata Sky in this regard
[*]The winner(s) should have the right to assign the story to Tata Sky
[*]The winner should not be prohibited by any agreement from assigning the story to Tata Sky
[*]The story must have a title. The title should not exceed 5 words
[*]Participants can send multiple entries
[*]Principals may authorise multiple teachers to participate in the contest
[*]Entries may be handwritten or typed and submitted as a word document. Handwritten entries must be legible to be considered as a Valid entry
[*]Entries should be sent along with the provided contest application form with all details duly filled in and all supporting documentation sent with the form
[*]The story(ies) submitted to Tata Sky by a Participant must not defame any individual/ organization/ religion. No offensive material will be accepted
[*]The story(ies) submitted to Tata Sky by a Participant must be fictional
[*]The story(ies) submitted to Tata Sky by a Participant must not have been previously published in whole or in part with the same text and sold or circulated through any retail or paid distribution channel
[*]All entries along with completed and signed contest application form and supporting documentation must be sent via post/courier to Tata Sky Ltd., 3rd Floor Bombay Dyeing A O Bldg, Pandurang Budhkar Marg, Worli Mumbai -400025. Alternatively, entries along with scanned copy of completed and signed contest application form and supporting documentation can be emailed to radhika.bhuptani@tatasky.com Entries sent by fax or in any other manner will not be considered as Valid entries
[/list] Judging Guidelines


[*]The entries will be judged on the basis of theme and characterization, narrative technique, style and language, story, the title, the moral for the reader and the overall appeal of the story for children
[*]The winning entries shall be selected by a panel of judges comprising of professionals from the fields of education, child development, journalism & publishing
[/list] Prize


[*]The Prize for the Contest is: (a) Rs.5000/- (Rupees five thousand only) to be paid by cheque and (b) The winning story(ies) will be featured for an entire day on Tata Sky along with the name of the winner and the school having the Tata Sky connection that the winner represents. The Prize is not exchangeable for any other offer
[*]The winner shall execute an Assignment agreement in favour of Tata Sky assigning all copyright in the story to Tata Sky in consideration of receiving the Prize
[*]A total of eight winning entries will be selected (4 English stories and 4 Hindi stories)
[*]Winners will be announced in the 1st week of October 2008
[*]The results generated shall be final and binding
[*]The winners will be contacted via phone on the telephone number indicated on the Contest application form
[*]Tata Sky shall also send a letter to each winner at the school address mentioned in the Tata Sky Subscription Contract requesting for a list of necessary documents to be presented by the winner to receive the Prize. Non-submission of necessary documents shall lead to disqualification of the winner(s) and an alternative winner(s) shall be chosen thereafter
[*]If Tata Sky is not able to contact the winner(s) at the phone number mentioned on the Contest application form or the school address mentioned in the Tata Sky Subscription Contract by midnight seven days after Tata Sky's first attempted notification, Tata Sky reserves the right to select an alternative winner(s) and the original winner's entitlement to the Prize will lapse
[*]The cheque for the requisite prize amount will be sent to the winner(s) at the school address mentioned in the Tata Sky Subscription Contract within 30 days from the date of receipt of the documents requested from the winner(s)
[*]The name on the cheque shall be the name of the winner(s) as it appears on the Contest application form
[*]Payment of the Prize money shall be subject to deduction of applicable withholding taxes, if any. The winner will be responsible for any relevant taxes arising from the receipt of the Prize including income tax
[*]Tata Sky shall at its sole discretion determine the date and the order in which it shall feature the winning entries on Actve Stories
[/list] Copyright Rules


[*]The winning stories will become the property of Tata Sky
[*]Tata Sky will have the right to showcase all the winning stories as per its discretion or in any other manner it may deem fit
[/list] Others


[*]All stories will be checked for spelling and grammatical errors and necessary editorial changes may be made before showcasing the stories on Actve Stories
[*]Tata Sky will not be returning any rejected entries
[*]Tata Sky reserves the right at anytime, without prior notice, to add or vary all or any of these terms and conditions or to replace, wholly or in part this Contest or to withdraw it completely
[*]Tata Sky shall have the right to use the image of the Contest winners in any promotional material. By entering the Contest, the winner has agreed to participate in any promotional activities and/or have his/her name and likeness featured in any promotional material as Tata Sky may require
[*]Tata Sky will not be liable for any loss, damage or cancellation of this Contest caused by events beyond its reasonable control including war, natural calamities, floods, failure of telecommunication network etc
[*]All participants of the Contest hereby grant their consent to comply with these terms and conditions and waive any right to claim ambiguity in these terms and conditions and release, indemnify and hold harmless Tata Sky and their respective affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, and all of their respective agents, representatives, officers, directors, shareholders and employees (collectively, "releases" from and against any injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions, or any liability of any kind resulting from or arising as a result of Tata Sky showcasing any of the winning entries on Tata Sky
[*]Participants acknowledge and agree that all disputes in relation to the Contest shall be determined in the sole and absolute discretion of Tata Sky and that such a decision by Tata Sky shall be final and binding
[*]Tata Sky is not responsible for printing or typographical errors in any Contest related materials; or for transactions that are lost, misdirected, fail to enter into the processing system, or are processed, reported, or transmitted late or incorrectly or are lost for any reason including computer, telephone, paper transfer, mail system, human or other error; or for electronic, computer, or telephonic malfunction or error, including inability to access any web site associated with this Contest, or process any transaction thereon
[*]The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law, and is subject to all applicable mandatory national, state and local laws
