Google gets approval for Wi-Fi in Mountain View

Google finally gets a chance to display its skill as an internet service provider! They finally have the approval to launch free Wi-Fi service on its home turf in Mountain View, California. This would be the company’s first foray into the wireless LAN market. The lawmakers in the region gave Google the nod for a five-year agreement with Google that enables the company to use city-owned streetlight poles as locations for wireless access points for a citywide Wi-Fi system.

FREE Wifi Internet?! 😱 We should have it here! The article doesnt mention the speeds that google is going to provide 🙁
 
well on wireless u cannot actually promise a fixed speed. but they say it would be as fast as average dsl services.

Mysore has WiFi Internet all over the city. One of the news articals said

"Mysore is also one of the only cities in the world after Jerusalem to be a WiFi hotspot."

Dunno wheteher this is still valid or not.

Is anyone from Mysore on this forum??? They would knoe if it is free and what kind of speeds do they get.
 
Rs.750 a month for 128Kbps isn't bad at all. But they should provide more AND the biggest question is the wireless network reliability!
