Disconnection Due To Telephone

Im sorry but i had to create a new post coz nobody was looking at the reply i mentioned in an older post. since the prob was somewhat same i didnt want to start a new topic all together. but since no one was reading older posts, i created a new topic :I solved my earlier problem and the net doesnt randomly disconnect anymore. But now im getting a different type of disconnection. Whenever i pickup any one of my telephones to make or receive a call, my connection is showing still connected but there is no data transmission and all pages appear as page cannot be displayed. Even after i put the phone down there is no data transmission. I have to manually disconnect and reconnect again. At first my telephone line was splitted at three places, 1st a phone, 2nd the router and 3rd another phone. So all three devices were in parallel. Then i connected the router as the 1st split in the line. So now its router-phone1-phone2.This improved my SNR and reduced the line attenuation but the original problem still persists. Im using the bridged mode to connect to the net ie.bridge mode in the router settings and a windows pppoe dialer. Does anyone else observe this kind of disconnection when lifting the handset of the lan telephone with a same kind of splitting in the telephone line? If yes, how to solve it???

I have faced this problem too with the router-telephone sequence. Actually you said you are using Bridge-mode to connect to the net. I think thats not recommended. You must try the PPPoE connecion in WAN settings. And why are you using Windows PPPoE dialer?.PS:BTW how much did that improved your SNR margin and lime attenuation. Please let me know.

To powdermonkey :my snr values increased by 3units and line attenuation decreased by 2units. my speed wasnt affected before or after making my router as the 1st split in the telephone line. but ive read a lot in this forum that for a stable connection the snr shud me more and line attenuation shud be less. so yes, my line is more stable than before according to the values.To baudhayan :i ran nslookup when my connection is working normally ie.without picking up the phone and it gave the exactly same results as u mentioned. but as soon as i lifted the phone and made sure that im getting a page cannot be displayed, i ran nslookup again from the command prompt. this time, it gave DNS request timed out 4 times with the msgs :-timeout was 2 seconds.*** Cant find server name for address xxx.xx.xxx.xx : Timed outand at the end it says 😀efault Server: UnknownAddress: xxx.xx.xxx.xx>so practically all connection to the mtnl server is lost as soon as the telephone intervenes and the line is disconnected except that the 2 connect box icons still appear connected in my taskbar. actually, i must have had this prob since the very beginning but didnt notice it since i cudnt relate the 2 incidents to each other. anybody has any idea what cud be causing this???

This is weird. You must go to Exchange Office and solve it.

to yohu123: i guess powdermonkey is rite..go 2 d exchange...get hold of a lineman & get ur line checked.also since u r saying tht after picking up d phone u get dns req timeout...ur net is actually getting disconnected. just chk whether ur ADSL lite in ur modem starts blinking as u lift d rcvr. if it starts blinking then probably u r getting disconnected everytime.

thanx baudhayan and powdermonkey for ur help. but the problem lied in the router setup itself. as i had mentioned before, i had split the telephone line itself at 3 junctions, 1st router-2nd phone1-3rd phone2. and what i actually had to do was take a parallel line out of the router box ie.the one which has a dsl and line inputs and one output. from that output i can take as many parallel junctions for telephones as i want. but the telephone line itself shud have only one split ie.for the router. once i did that, my broadband conn wud never get disconnected when i lift the phone while surfing the net. its when u guys suggested to goto the exchange, thats when a mtnl employee told me the proper setup. thanx again.

i've had this problem.. when my dsl doesnt work i pick up the phone and tht status light gos to stable.. also i get a similar sound to dialing on the phone line.. i dunno much bout this stuff.. but every time the things coked off. i pick up the phone and its fine

anyone who is having low snr values and high line attenuation values, make sure that u dont have the router and ur lan phones on the same parallel line. instead conn the router to the main line and then from the router splitter box, take as many parallel lines u want for ur lan phones. this really stablizes the connection and improves these values. my adsl status is :SNR Margin 31 22 dB Line Attenuation 18 11 dB Data Rate 256 256 kbps

Disconnection of your internet occurs ONLY DUE TO improper connection of you POTS SPLITTER (the small box) which comes with the ADSL Router package.you must connect your POTS splitter right at the incoming phonel line near your house entry.. and then take nay amount of desired parallel connections from the PHONE out of this Splitter.. no interruption occurs then..
