Trust Google to come up with something exciting and innovative every now and then. The search engine giant has released another major commercial grade application and is giving it out for free. Google has launched Google Analytics that enables the companies to see exactly how visitors interact with their Web site and how their advertising campaigns are faring. This service is available in English and 16 other languages.

Google acquired the technology company Urchin in March this year. The company specialized in providing this service for a cost. Urchin’s products originally cost $495 a month for its users. Google reduced the prices to around $199 a month. Google has now labeled it Google Analytics and with certain limitations, letting user use it without any costs.

Yeap, Broadband Forum is using it right now 😉

Cool stuff. Eagerly waiting it to be available (it says its under maintenance).

what if javascript is disabled on the client machine? Will it still work??

huh? what does that mean? I dont know about Adsense. I was talking about Analytics. I read on google's website that you have to insert a javascript code above each HTML page. If javascript is disabled then it shouldn't work, should it?

of course it wont. but then no other service would work which runs on JS.but it is the only globally supported web technology. they cant give you php/asp/aspx/jsp/blah blah codes for various platforms.

I think giving a simple IMG tag would have been simpler and more secure. With Javascript MITM (Man in the middle) attacks are possible.

something like

google.com/getimage.jsp?siteid=qqweqweqweqwe&pageid=ssfsf would be simpler and more secure.

Only benifit is, with Javascript they can gather more information then is possible with raw http headers.

i have yet to see what exactly do they give me in stats 🙂 i prefer to just knwo the referrals... and i got a php script which works great...

Have you looked at their documentation. It's supposed to give AWESOME stats. Keep us updated as to what you get....

more than a day for the first glimpse? the most interesting thing abt stats is that they tell u what is happening right now. if they are delayed, i am not using them at all.
