modem troubleshooting

dear friend i am using ez connect adsl /usb modem smc 7003. usb v.2 ( initially i subscribed tata indicom connection later cancelled that isp) to conncet dataone. but i cannot get any result from my effort .The dataone (bsnl) officials reluctant to help me in this issue, because whenever i complaint to them they said "if modem supplied by bsnl then only they could help, otherwise the user should configure his modem .it is irritating me a lot.so i need your help and folloing r the ? i have given for u r referrence.1 when i connect and install the driver the power line is automatically switched on.2 when i incert my tel jack the data light is not powered (it should be powered on automatically "says my friend")3 configured and try to connect my modem it won't connect 4 in the modem icon it shows "no signal"i want to know if tata supplied modem cannot be used for dataone or configured differentlycan u help providing me how to configure smc modem i tried in the tataindicom dial up windowi tried in the miniport wanmodemi tried in new connection via create new internet connection follign are the configuration which i tried ip 192.168.1.12deafault gateway 192.168.1.1dns 192.168.1.1
