Sounds similar to bsnl's Rs 250 plan ,and then maran will announce that BB is 50 % cheaper.

Maran is stupid 😡 Infact the Indian government is plain foolish.

I really dont care if they give out those connections for free but keep charging Rs.1.20 (or Rs.2.25 in some plans). I just wont take their connection!

Looking at the time of post seems like he just accidently clickked it twice or may be got "page cannot be displayed" so he went back and clicked submit again. Why would someone make a double post otherwise. and since you are not Moderator you could just ignore it or report it to a moderator. telling anand will not help as he cannot delete it himself

Today ... I am consistantly getting 236 kpbs. That is 25 points more than normal at the best of times. Unbelievable. By the way I am based in Andheri West Mumbai. Now the newspapers report halving of rates. I for one would be happy to get 512 and 900 download for the same old money. Hope they have this plan and my phone-pair can handle the job. Can someone run a poll on this again ... what each one wants, now after six months of broadband. Guys, lets not get extreme on this. Baijal and Maran can be kept in the loop if we get serious about it. The first is the TRAI head and the second is the Minister. Best wishes.

@genexed yeah mate by mistake actually i got an error to wait 30secs somethin that board had enable don knw wht waz that ....mod can delete that ... @snpexim frm where did ya chkd ur surfin speed ....i din remb dat site ...can ya temme

doesnt matter if they give 1Mbps in that cost. What matters is the download caps and the port caps...

Makes me wonder if they do have the word unlimited in their dictionary?

i donno wat's the problem in offering untld ? especially when they buy bandwidth on the basis of speed and not data transfer. VSNL should charge them per MB for the data transferred through their STM links, probably then they will get a taste of their own medicine.

The precedent's are there all over the world for them to look at and now even their immediate competitor, Airtel has started offering unltd - but it seems the babus r just not interested in opening their eyes.

Look at what the paper's are reporting --

In a major incentive for consumers, state-run MTNL on Thursday indicated lowering of broadband tariffs by 50 percent to Rs 199 per month from Rs 399, a move that may give private operators a run for their money.

Crappiest reporting i have ever read -- that 199/month connection would cost around Rs. 70,000/- month if used 24x7 and the same connection with Airtel costs merely Rs. 1000/- ...How much MTNL is making Airtel run for its money can be clearly seen...

they can give a T1, T2 or a T3 line and keep charging for the downloads per mb or gb. A$$holes...who are they trying to fool ? definitely not me.I just hope airtel covers more of bombay very soon, I will be satisfied with 256 or 512 since all of you say that its truly unlimited with no blocking of any protocol/port under the sun.

kudos! Like minded people 😀

cyberwiz you are indeed right. Any backbone provider charges ISPs on the basis of speed and not volume.

yogi, I would go in for their limited plan BUT the catch being they keep the download limit unrealistic. For example, 256Kbps connection's theoretical limit is 81.73828125GBs. So if MTNL offers something like 256Kbps with a download cap of 100GB then I would love to go in for that provided they dont cap ports / protocols 😉 Remember, thats GB and not MB
