Hi this is my third thread but this time ill give some more hints with my problem. i do tracert to europe.battle.net , asia.battle.net my ping is always 400-500 since i took airtel my download is ~2.2k and upload ~400. I see packet Lost at 2nd hop and i was wondering why is thier so much high ping at hop 7 and 10. can u tell me how can i decrease ping i am in very much problem guys please help me.

Here is tracert to europe.battle.net

Tracing route to europe.battle.net [213.248.106.68]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 1 ms

Hop no. 2 isn't an issue, Airtel has set all those servers to not respond to pings. As for your latency, there isn't much you can do. Ping depends on the following😛hysical distance from you to remote server.Quality of the network used by the ISP(wires, etc...)Routing over net.Bad routers en route to the server. All the above factors are largely out of the control of home users, it depends on the ISP and how good they are at it.

cFosSpeed, faster Internet access with Traffic Shaping
cFos Software GmbH | Download | cfosSpeed | cFos | cFosWatch | hrping | Skins |.
I had tried it and there was /were improvement/s.
Para two
http://www.cfos.de/hrping-v238.zip
for faster pings . Not tried.

thx essebe but i am still at that same ping i call airtel customer care they know shit about ping. they are like sry we cant do anything we are ****ing idiots.

airtel borrows bandwidth from the national internet backbone i presume.either live in Chennai or mumbai as the dns landing points to india are located there or switch to mtnl.

U cant do anything much about pings coz it depends on ur ISP's routing, network traffic/congestion, Qos and traffic routing protocols running on routers that carry traffic from ur PC to the destination.

If u wan to know reposnse time of hop2 u can use TCP SYN packets using port 80 instead of ICMP (ping packets) which maybe blocked by ur ISP..it is easier to do this in linux.

there is increase in ping time from hop 6 to 7 coz the packet jumps from some location in India to some location in USA

BTW Airtel doesnt use Natl internet backbone which belongs to BSNL..airtel has its own backbone.

What is National Internet Backbone?Just want to know " All DATA D/U mush go through which Internet Backbone? "

The National Internet Backbone (NIB) is BSNL's local backbone which connects all the cities it serves in.In general a collection of submarine cables owned by various companies like Reliance(FLAG) Tata(VSNL/Teleglobe) Airtel(i2i) etc... are used to route all the major traffic of the ISPs in India to various locations across the world.
