Hi. I am from Delhi and planning to move (upgrade ... lol) from Triband to Airtel connection. Can someone please help me with these doubts? Firstly, there seems to be a lot of confusion about unlimited plans in Delhi. I called them up and was told that 128k/256k Unlimited plans are available; but I thought I'll ask here just to be sure. So are there any 'real' unlimited no data transfer- no time limit plan? And what are the real-world speeds that they deliver? What is the status of ports? Do torrents, P2P and IRC work on it? Any other things to watch out for/tips/fine-pint etc? Thanks.

get airtel 256 unlimited. no limits. no blocks. perfect net connectiivyt. and if you can get one line to my house in panchkula too 😀

yes no problem 256 plan rocks no blocks and nothing on an average you will get 25-28k download speed and works round the clock

In case you still are on the fence, I would recommend Airtel too.... have been using them for a year and 12 days now! Not only is there no small print or catch with the whole "unlimited" aspect, which you might experience with some other unscrupulous ISPs, the speeds are very good, there is hardly any downtime, and so far I have had no problems using anything like p2p software....

p.s. A tip - the 128kbps and 256kbps are avilable in two versions each. For e.g., there is a Home 999 plan and a Home 999 Plus plan.... the only difference is that you don't have to sign up for a telephone plan with the latter, and therefore, you don't have to committ to any monthly payment for the telephone... you pay as much as you use it...... which is awesome if you don't really need another line... because you get one for free, and well, it's always nice to have a backup line......

Thanks for all the responses. I asked Airtel to send over their representative today afternoon so that I could discuss various plans. I also asked the guy on phone to confirm the meeting in the morning . But neither a confirmation calls nor any cust-exec! Thats very unlike what I've been hearing about Airtel. Ok I hadnt called him for a new installation; only 'discussion' but does that mean they wont follow it up at all? Anyways will try once again.

umm... just call them for a new installation...... by doing that you are not committing to anything, and you will get a response..... in my case the local guy (I believe he's called the cTO or something like that?) came advertising a new scheme which waived the installation / registration fees......As far as confirmation calls go.... heh..... don't expect them for normal consumer goods/services.....

they are answerable to airtel. if your problem is not fixed within 4 hours, they give you discounts on the end bill. that is the ROCKING part!

They are certainly reliable, have been with them 3 months now. I started on their 128K unlimited and was upgraded to their 256k plan.I downloaded some stuff last night from a 10mbit ftp, i found during the day my avg connection speed was in the 12-13k region. At night (1am-8am), it jumped to about 18k avg.Now you need to realise its not going to stay constant at the advertised speed, it fluctuates wildly, and that its an upto speed. But if you are looking for data throughput. then this plan is good as there are no hidden charges, its flat rate unlimted. You could pull 20-30Gb/month reliably on the 256k plan. Whether you can actually consistantly find that much content every month and still have time to mentally process it is another matter 😉

As i have allready mentioned in my previous posts in other threads.which might be worng so just ignore themAitel Home 999 combo is the best plan to go for, they recently upgraded the bandwith from 128 Kbps to 256 Kbps. i think they r gonna upgarde it further. No problems with connections or line drops, make sure u get the beetle modem which u can connect either to ur usb or lan card n use a dial up to get dynamic ip 😀
