World’s second largest automaker and one of the most recognized brands Toyota is very keen to launch a smaller or a mid sized car in the Indian market. Indian auto market is basically about small cars when it comes to volumes with Maruti Alto, Hyundai Santro, and Tata Indica being the best sellers. And Toyota needs to enter this segment to get some decent numbers for their auto sales.

The company’s Indian branch DGM Sailesh Shetty said that Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has plans to launch a mid size or small car to boost volumes. Indian market has just managed to touch an impressive one million mark and it is expected to reach two million by 2010. The Japanese auto giant wants to gather a 10% market share by the end of the current decade.
