Hi everyone,
This is only my 4th post, so I guess nobody knows me. I"ll take this opportunity to introduce myself.
I'm a foreign student living near Pondichery. I also work part-time as sysadmin in a school where we got sify as only connection offering unlimited connections - limited to 75 MB as you all know
I'm into networks, electronics and photography. Trying to get to know linux better too. Bit of programming too, but not my main interest.
From the moment I first saw the sify client, I knew we had to get rid of it !
Besides, we got a single-floppy router based on fli4l and the sify linux client doesn't work on it - and it's way to big to fit on the single floppy with the rest of the progs, anyway.
So I tried understanding how the prog works - network scanning mainly. I'm in the process of writing an alternative client which will be published open-source, of course 😉
I've also found an excellent autospy of the program by www.indiasec.com. Check it out !
Sify dialer for linux reverse-engineered
I also encourage any programers who've attempted anything like this to publish their experiences on this board. Will publish mine in a couple of days.
I look forward to meeting y'all more closely and hope to find interesting posts here in the future too.
