Almost all the problems have been mentioend here, so nothin much left for me.The only thing i cudnt find is, this client performin an ILLEGAL FUCTION no a newly installed machine.I'v tried formattin and re-installin windows 98 on one machine but error continues.And as always, Sify dudes dont have a clue abt things, they stick to their only crap, "therez nothing wrong with our software, must be wrong at user end".In short, a guy spend over 15k to get a new machine only to know that its nothing but piece of crap coz Sify Guys r tellin so.Interestin thing is, after u log in it performs an illegal fuction, and user ...poor user (i must say) is not able to log out.

Surjeett, try suggesting to the user that he/she gets a more stable Windows version like 2000 or XP. I too have Windows 98 and though thankfully I don't get the "Illegal function" error for Sify's client, I often get it for other applications.In any case, getting another Windows version installed would be cheaper than getting another computer hehe.
1. Not all guys have 128megs RAM or P4s.2. That would be illegal.#2 does not take into consideration that most of them would already be on illegal systems. :lol:Getting them to move to Linux is better alternative. But it is not practical.
Windows 2000 doesn't require 128 MB RAM or P4. Windows 98 has a reputation for crashing etc. while Windows 2000 is a nice, solid system for a Windows.I never said how to get the Windows, legally or illegally 🙂. Even if you get it legally it would be cheaper than getting a whole computer :lol: Did Sify work on Linux when there was a web log-in? It should have because all that would have needed is setting up your LAN card under linux. Had any of guys tried it 🙂?
Talkin about OS, in my opinion, windows xp is better than others in many ways.1. U can run all kinda games2. Availibility of NTFS, therefore better file security3. System Restore works great.4. System tray doesnt vanish5. Doesnt require as frequent restarts as 98.6. Its a pretty stable thing to have, atleast u dont need to re-install it every other monthBut still its not for ppl stuck to 64 mb of RAM.This country still has years to go b4 ppl will move to 128mb RAM wich is for 900bux these days 😛

i think the dude who just spent 15 k for a new pc will at least have enuf juice to run xp properly..
the best part abt xp is that after sp2, it is much more secure than an other version and as if not more secure than an linux dist..
btw, abt the gu who just bought the new computer, he didn't get win 98 original cd with it, did he?? most people get win x nowadays.. does ms even sell 98 anymore?

REALLY.. so cheap i am going to get my self a 256 chip.. that makes me have 512 mb in total.. 🙂 also can someone please tell me what these might cost approximately : - a latest athlon/p4 (more than 3 gigs)a new motherboard with agp 8x and pci express??
I dont think athlon is 64bit proc.I'll suggest a 64bit proc instead.Frnd of mine got this 1.8 gig 64bit proc. wich beats 2.4 gig P4.If u guys r in delhi then all i can do is drop in a number here, from where u can get genuine stuff. Not to mention its a reliable source just incase if u r wonderin abt support after sales. Even if u dont plan to buy then also u can check the rates atleast.
