Power 107.8 FM site's code seems to be fine now. It was probably hacked with inline frame malware previously.

blr_p,//// Are they any domestic talk shows on the radio here, news discussions, or debates , preferably in english ? ////I am not aware which city you are. In India, news and current affairs are banned in FM radio except in government owned stations. There are many news, news discussions and current-affairs programs on govt. stations AIR. Some of them like morning-news-review and market-mantra (a stock and MF market review daily) are good.As to International music, All India Radio plays very very good music atleast for 3 or 4 hours daily. I live in Mumbai. I am happy with them. And, at home, of course there is worldspace. Let me try PowerFM and try to give some opinion. But, I very much doubt whether I will shift ever from AIR stations (rainbow and Gold). I have NEVER done that in all the cities I have lived.

AIR FM (Rainbow & Gold)...You seem to like them...? :iomg: As far as I know, I havent found my dose from them. Can you tell me the timings when they air good international music ? I could give it a second try then..!

//// Can you tell me the timings when they air good international music ? I could give it a second try then..! ////AIR is the best. The RJ s are all very mature and very respectful. They only play well popular and melodious pop music. All time greats and classic pop is also played very often. It is morning 8 to 9 (the perfect time when we drive to office), afternoon 3 hours (i think between 1 to 4, please check it up) and evening 8 to 9. Check it out. You will not regret it.

//very poor marketing// So far I have gifted 3 sets to my relatives. Every time when I tried to purchase the dealer doesn't show any interest to sell at all whether it is Madurai or Tiruchirapalli or Coimbatore. With so many young Indians around the world and their parents in India World Space can definitely target these NRI so that they can gift this to their aged parents in India who don't have patience to operate/change DVD etc. And for parents who are interested in carnatic or Hindustani music (shruti and Gandharv channels give enough food). Yes World space is on throughout the night by my bedside. Actually I have fitted two flat panel speakers in my Cot. Further I have fixed speakers throughout my house which is connected to worldspace and it showers music throughout the home. My favorite is Moksha channels New age musics in Night time and AOL Bajans in day time. Except for news and few channels like NDTV Good times we barely switch on the TV.FM with all those useless chatterbox girls and boys I feel it is a waste of time. Yes it is costly. I agree. But for the music without ADs I am ready to pay anything. Atleast they can convert the payment mode based on specific channel selection like DTH.

subra ji,Thanks for detailed reply. I totally agree with your views. For any NRI or old-parents, Better option is to go for Airtel DTH. It has all the popular channels of worldspace including Moksha, Struthi, Gandharv, Farista etc. And, You don't have to invest Rs.4,000 extra. No separate cable and antenna, line of sight problems.

From bangalore as it says.

Is this true that only govt. stns can talk about current affairs ??

There is such restriction for print or tv, so why prevent it on radio.

And common...It cant be a pirate station, otherwise the Govt would have cancelled their license.

Well how else to explain the uninterrupted and latest (presumably foreign) content as per you ?

i think private radio stations were even banned to have news telecasts on their shows till sometime ago. that is why we just got minor updates (cricket scores) through casual chats during entertainment shows.

Well just because a radio station is playing the best of Indian and International music back to back with very few interruptions does not mean that it is a pirate station. Why dont you listen to the radio station and find out for yourself ? And secondly, you think govt would miss such a good oppurtunity to sue a private FM station that was actually a pirate one ? (As per you)

😛 i find it hard to believe that a radio station can operate in india playing pirated songs.

Ya you are correct. Pirated radio stations cant run in India.

Secondly, Power FM even gets the voice of international artists who actually says : "Hi this is ***** and you are listening to me on Power 107.8 FM". Indian artists obviously lend their voices but this FM station has international artists' voice too....!!! 😀

You guys must have heard of Lady Gaga who debuted with her album "The Fame" some time ago which was both US#1 and UK#1. The other day I was listening to Power FM and it was actually Lady Gaga saying :

"Hi Kolkata. This is Lady Gaga and you are listening to my music on Power 107.8 FM. All Hits, No Bakwaas".

Now guys dont come up and say that Power FM is using a pirated software for generating fake voices of artists....!! 😱hyea:

Radio is very common more than print. And, cheaper to start and run. And, Radio is very local. Hence, they can not control what news is being designated. Tomorrow, We can have a Taliban FM (In Pakistan, they had this and the army of Pakistan could not trace this radio station for years...), Kashmir FM, Mullah FM etc. I am not sure how much of this is feasible with the onset of technology in future. For the time being, Government is fighting this and blocking this.Recently, Government is thinking of allowing limited access to current affairs on FM radios. But, the proposal has not taken any concrete action.

Very good 🙂

I suppose the same laws would apply to worldspace as well, no talk shows or current affairs ?

Well just because a radio station is playing the best of Indian and International music back to back with very few interruptions does not mean that it is a pirate station.

Would you say the mix is 50-50 or more indian or international ?

That would be key, If the indian content dominated then sure there is no issue as it would considerably cheaper.

Wonder if they have some wierd laws in India as in other non-english speaking countries like France or Canada where its mandatory to play a certain % of domestic music.

give their own artists a fighting chance against those more successful anglo-saxons 😀

And secondly, you think govt would miss such a good oppurtunity to sue a private FM station that was actually a pirate one ? (As per you)

My point was if they play more intl than domestic then maybe they belong to some MNC or such with deep pockets. They are not all by themselves.

I don't think its possible yet for foreign radio stations to setup in India even with a doemstic ownership of 26%.

Well I already mentioned in my previous post that if Power FM plays 5 Indian tracks in an hour, then it will surely play atleast 4 international tracks in the same hour. So its a mix of both Indian and International music you see. I never said that they play International music all the time. But they are generally playing more international music than any other FTA FM stations.

Brother, Neither am I the owner of Power FM, nor am I their employee or marketing expert, so obviously I am not aware so as to who owns it or from where they earn their money and so on....! I am just an avid and true listener of Power FM everyday without fail, so whatever I said was an honest review of Power FM. Thats it !
