Worst service worldspace radio

Hi Guys, I have requested(Req no : 1410851) to activate my Worldspace service on 9Th May 2008. till today (19th May 2008) nothing is delivered from worldspace. we followed up daily for the request but nithing happend only false promises by custome care(less) exe. Please guys think twice before you buy worldspace. I experienced literally mental torture and wasted lot of money in buying and call worldspace, which is prompting me to warn fellow guys to be carefull before buying this sevice. Satish.

I too never faced any problem with worldspace, just directly went to the dealer, got the receiver and before the "technician" came the next day, I myself set up the whole thing. Yearly renewals are also no issue because of online renewals. I think it is one of the best things to happen for music lovers. I sincerely hope that they launch a mobile version of it for cars for it would anyday be better than the crap FM stations (especially the regional language one's) we have.

The quality of music and the wide choice offered is any music lovers dream!Its unfortunate that Mr Satish had to face a problem so that does not make it the "Worst service worldspace radio". I have never faced problem with renewing subscription. Immediately on payment through online within 24 hours I get the password by email but regular postal mail come after a week or some time it never reaches me.

Even the licensing policy is not available. There is no way this can be used in car. Earlier, some people tried using this Tongshi in the car by keeping the antenna in the roof and other fabrications. It gave very mixed results. Not at all reliable.There is nothing to suggest that this is the best model. Leave alone your self-promotion that most awaited model.I am using worldspace for the past 4 years. I do not know when this will stop. Worldspace US is already gone. Press reports say that worldspace has not paid salary to their staff for ages. BPL and others are already suing the worldspace for their money as worldspace has not paid them. Worldspace is in limbo. They have not done any advertisement for so many months now (or is it years?). Their transponder in the satellite is expiring shortly. They are now actively promoting internet-online radio, which can be heard without any special radio device. So, I am not clear why anyone would like to take a plunge and spend significant money on this doomsday. Now, I have it and the music is good. It is good while it lasts.

Well I bought Worldspace in 2007. In the beginning, I found the music to be good. But I dont know why, I still prefer FTA FM stations to be better than Worldspace. But I must admit that WS has some good channels devoted to international music, which is what I am interested in the most. Secondly, I stopped renewing for their services from 2008 since I lost interest in their services. Since then, I am receiving calls almost each day to renew. I am not sure whether I should renew or not. May be Mr.hifijay could help me out, (since you are a current subscriber of the same), Well whats the quality of WS at present ? Are they playing the latest music on the international chs ? Your feedback would help me to judge their present services.

i had got myself the worldspace connection a couple of years ago. we listened to it for a while. but after the initial subscription was over. just could not think of a good reason to pay for renewal. the radio is now lying somewhere in the house. while the antenna can still be seen on my roof.

If you like international music, I think you should renew. The quality of their broadcast has remained same for the past many years. There is no need for any apprehension in that. The quality is better than FM (without any hiss noice or disturbance, as this is digital broadcast) and slightly lower than CD quality (as the kbps level is lower than CD). Generally speaking, International music is given in better quality (higher kbps) than Indian stations.

They still have franchisee arrangements with X radio (satellite radio based at US). Hence, the exclusive international music channels do give more recent and popular numbers.

Worldspace is in a much higher quality level (quality of content) than FM stations. FM stations give you the latest popular numbers if you prefer local or Hindi filimy music. That is all. Worldspace is full recipie. Actually, there is no comparison. Both cater to completely different sphere.

It is actually surprising to see how little music is there in FM stations now-a-days and how much more talk / noice is there. In FM stations, I only listen to AIR and not anything else, ever. But, even here, I am sometimes surprised how little is music and how much is talk and talk only.

BTW, Worldspace has many talk channels, including an exclusive radio channels for comedy talk. Amazing.

If you are spritually inclined or you want peace of mind throughout the day, definitely channels Moksha (New Age Music and spritual chants and speaches), Art of Living (Ravishankar speaches and superb melodious bajans), SGH (Sai global Harmony - Bajans and speaches of Sri saibaba) will feed your soul. For this personally I am ready to pay any amount. I keep my worldpspace by my bedside and it is always switched on between 8 PM and 8 AM and on sundays almost the whole day. You can forget about mind poisoning channels of TV and FM and have a peaceful life. It is pathetic world space is not able to promote such a wonderful service. very poor marketing.

For the radio to cost Rs.4,000 and subscription of almost cable television, this will never never be a popular item. People tend to like this service only if they already own. Otherwise, they normally do not spend Rs.4,000 on hardware, which is useless unless you keep paying Rs.1,800 per year.

I think you are gravely mistaken here. Have you heard or listened to Power 107.8 FM ? Its one of the best...in fact the BEST FTA FM station I have ever come across. They play the latest Hindi and International music for your information. In fact in an hour, if they play 5 Hindi tracks, then they will play atleast 4 international tracks in the same hour and the latest tracks only. And the best part of Power FM is that, there is little or NO TALKS in this station. Yes...Its true. It is the only FTA FM to offer more music and no chit-chat. I mean the RJs here just announce the name of tracks and their respective albums/films, which I feel is completely OK and very much needed.

Secondly, Power FM is the only expection. All other FM stations does not air any international music and to top it off, much of the air time is filled with chit-chat from the RJs which I hate the most, be it Red FM, Meow FM, Big FM, Friends FM, Radio One, etc. In fact the worst is Radio Mirchi...Gosh...The RJ there talks so much....I literally get pissed off with it, they play may be just 3 or 4 songs in an hour. But Power FM is totally different. It rocks. I think you should give it a try, if it is available in your city.

On a third note, thanks for putting in your voice in this thread. International music is the only weakness which might make me subscribe to WS once again. Lets see..what happens.

That this station can play music, all latest and not much chitchat makes me wonder how they get their money or are they part of a MNC. Otherwise its a pirate station.

Well I am not sure why Google says the site to be harmful. The website has been under construction for a long time now and it still is. I dont know whats taking them so long. Anyways..Power FM does play the latest Hindi & International Music with very little chit-chats. And common...It cant be a pirate station, otherwise the Govt would have cancelled their license.
