MTNL 599 plan in mumbai

hiI am currently on MTNL triband in mumbai. I am on 399 plan where i get 700 MB free.Now the thing is that there was a problem 2 months ago that when i shifted to DSL 599 where u get 1 gb free,my ADSL light went off,and cudnt surf the net.it came back only when i changed the plan back to my original one ie 399.This had happenened 4 months back also....IS there some problem with this plan.i called up 1504,but babus didnt know as usual..... haaaaaaa....I want some suggestion from you all with regards to this.. cause i once again want to try and change my plan to DSL 599 next month.should i do it or no????plsssssssssss reply

there isnt any problem with changing the plan.the problem which had occurred may be due to a server/exchange problem.you can go for the desired plan you want.

Check ur upload sync rate..have they increased it to 512 K from 256 K? coz Trib 599 plan has 512 K upload rate.A 2 mbps down/512 Kbps up profile needs a line which is more stable and has lesser interference than a line with 2 mbps down/256 K up ..hence increased upload rates can cause stability problems in certain cases.If the ADSL light completely goes dead then try resetting the router.. maybe u accidentally unchecked some modulation settings in the ADSL settings..resetting will return the router to the default modulation.

It would be a problem with 512 k upload which could have led to decreased SNR

I have been using this plan from Dec' 05. There is currently no problem as u have stated. Maybe be a personal visit to the Div Eng's office may help. I do just that. I am on Prabhadevi Exchange but the office for the babus for my area is at 'Phatre House' at Dadar.

the upload and download speeds can be changed only from the MTNL side.post your router stats which include the snr ratio and line attenuation.

though your download margin is good, your upload margin is 12 which is the minimum required for a stable connection. the 599 plan has a 512 kbps upload which reduces the margin further hence the unstable connection. so you won be able to go for this plan.if you want to change to some other plan, select a plan with upload speed not more than 256 kbps.

but then!!!! what is the remedy!!! I cnt do anything kya!!!! you can choose the 599 plan, but will have to tell the cc to keep the upload speed to 256 kbps only due to problems in your line. tell them not to increase it to 512 kbps.you can also try bugging the MTNL exchange to change your line. but that could be a hassle.
