Have to buy a split ac for lobby. Would like to have Alexa support this time around. Was wondering if anyone here has purchased a wifi enabled model in recent times and how was the experience.

Solution
we got first floor and half of second floor built 4-5 years ago. at the time dad got all ac outside units moved to the roof so all piping were laid by the daikin guys in the outside wall (inside the wall cemented so replacing it is not really an option without breaking the wall again). dad said that same piping was used for all ACs. 4 ACs were installed on the first floor (2 of them have pipes going to the roof along with 2 on the ground floor). all purchased from the same daikin guys. so if r32 was used in daikin acs 4-5 years ago, the piping should be the same for the ground floor acs as well. i mean are the pipes different in design or material or thickness that one can check before buying the ac?

Update: Ended up buying Daikin...
@Rickysin although not extensively researched, but it would vary from company to company how they tweak their inv ac performance. For instance, you and another Yt'ber have mentioned lower inv performance. He mentioned LG(2020 models) has gone very aggressive with power saving and hence it would decrease power 2-3 degree before reaching the set temperature.
Another member elsewhere mentioned the same. He runs ac 24x7 and he has similar views as yours.
That could explain why for a same tonnage LG has higher ISEER(power saving) than Voltas(more cooling).
Non-inv models are geared towards cooling, so difference could be visible when temps are set low.

@Tejas01 thanks for the reply. As per my experience with inverter acs, i would not buy another same technology ac ever again. Will prefer window ac over split one.

another issue: yes both samsung acs 1.5 and 1 ton:

though i have one more concern regarding 1 ton inverter ac. At start it consumes 2000w and nearly 10 amperes current till it reaches set temperature of 29 degree. And then to maintain that temp it runs at 900 w .
Shouldn’t 1 ton inverter 5 star ac run at like 400-500w to maintain that temp ?
And why it runs at 2 ton when company mentioned that it can max consume 1.2 ton ?

i had seen youtuber videos of same 1 ton ac running at 400w once it maintained that temperature.
What could be the reason ? High gas ? Low gas ? Wiring ?

I have a Marq(flipkart brand) 1 ton inverter AC.
On full power uses 1100 watt as rated while on achieving desired temp consumes 400w(tested with smart plug) only.
For 29c it even switches off the compressor maybe cos no level below 400w as room is small, gf, no direct sunlight.
Also when switched on it gradually goes to 1100w from 400w.
So may be your ac is faulty.

How much is the max consumption mentioned on the label? I am assuming the ac would be coming from a very high temperature range 40C+ to 29C which means it has lots of work to do. Besides, is your ODU sitting under direct sunlight? If yes, you could be over-working your compressor since it would not be able to release all the heat from the air coming from IDU and hence it works more to cool that warm air causing increase in consumption.
TLDR; if your readings are way more than the stated readings, then something is definitely wrong.
And then to maintain that temp it runs at 900 w .
There would be lot of variables involved here. Daytime readings with high temps outside will always lead to higher consumption. Also, there could be passive heat from surroundings, roof which could negate the work of ac and hence it would consume more power to maintain the set temp. Try in when it is less sunny and when the difference between the ambient and set temps is less like during monsoon.
No company would allow to run their ac's at a much higher values than the rated ones as it destroys the compressor's life. If that is indeed the case, then you would be better off showing to their technician.

Ideally, yes. If there are trigger elements like passive heat, under-sized ac, dirty ODU, ODU under direct sunlight, damaged fins(hence restricted air flow) then the consumption would vary to meet the set temps. Regularly cleaning your ODU with garden hose will allow for effective heat exchange and lower consumption.
I hope that YT video perhaps had mentioned that results found in the video may not be possible everywhere. There are too many variables involved.

There are only two states possible with the gas, either completely filled or less than that. All the values and parameters mentioned are based on full gas. If there is low gas, there will be less ampere current drawn at full power, more power consumption(since less gas so more work to cool the room).
I don't think wiring would be an issue. If you are talking about piping as in used to extend the given set, then it depends if there is a pinch in pipe while bending. If there is a pinch then there is an obstacle for the refrigerant to flow which reduces cooling, higher power consumption. If during installation the team was careless, then pinches will be present where there is a bend in pipe.

Its a rooftop room with top and 2 sides with sunlight with size of 120sq ft.

ODU is in shade. So i think roof is the issue.
Rated amperes on AC written in manual is 4.8 amps and max consumption 980w.

Yes temperature outside is 41C. It takes 30-45 mins and sometimes even 1 to 1hr 30mins to reach 29C with high pitch noise coming from compressor and consuming 2000w. Once it reaches then noise disappears.
There is only one bend and that is also not that much. So no chance of pinch.

@igloo how is your experience with Marq brand in terms of performance and service ?
I have used installation service only till now from jeeves. Installation was professionally done with full compressor suction and pressure testing though all outsourced & no one came or called for first free service. But it was due in lockdown of 2020 so i can't blame them.
Performance wise AC is very silent. Can't find much diff between this n ogeneral(even I was surprised) that was installed before.
Feels super chilly even at 25deg. Though a lot depends on room too.

@igloo Any particular reason for buying a Marq product?
I had ogeneral in same place before this. After a gas leak you are on your own, not a single ac co. or engineer guarantees zero gas leak for atleast 12 months after their so called leak detection.
So nowadays after 1st gas refill I mostly go for replacement so thought why not try this. Plus power savings on most new inverter ac make it worth .... specially bedroom ACs which run for 12-16 hours a day in long Delhi summer.

Clearly it's a case of undersized ac. Under normal scenario 1 to 1.2 ton would have been sufficient for that area, but in your case you have 3 sides facing the sun so definitely you would need to go for 1.5 ton or higher.
The heat from all the three sides are making it difficult for the compressor to reach the set temps hence it takes longer time., higher pitch sound.
Nevertheless, for heat in excess of 40C, I would suggest to go for those Japanese brands since LG's newer models are designed towards power saving than their older inv models.
